A camping solution for a short bed
When I sold my 2021 long bed Toyota Tacoma and purchased a 2024 Tacoma with a short bed a primary consideration was how to camp in the back. A 6-foot bed was perfect for a cot under the cap and the tailgate closed. The short bed means I have to have the tailgate down. The DAC full size truck tent solves that problem. It fits over my SnugTop cap without any problem. The bungee cords are a good length for keeping things tight against my truck. (I ran the cords though my tire rims for tension.)I got creative with some pool noodles. Notably, cutting them lengthwise and encasing the bungee cords to minimize rubbing in the case of stormy weather on the outside and underside of the tailgate. Inside, I used more noodles to seal up the tailgate sides and reduce potential bug ingress. I may put some adhesive Velcro pieces on a couple of points to make folding the rear section to the side quicker and easier. Setup was intuitive, easy from just the picture reference, and the instructions are clear. The tent is well made and I think it will stand the test of the camping season. The price was good for the quality. DAC, thanks for a good solution to my short bed camping concern!

Works well, quick and easy to install
Overall, I was very pleased with the quality, fit, function and general design of the tent.. The tailgate on my pickup is about 61" wide, and the fit of the full-size tent was very good. The tent had a couple of minor quality issues. First, two of the bungee cords were bundled up and the hooks were shoved into the bundle. On both of mine that were packaged this way, the coating on the hooks got torn back when they shoved them into the bundle, leaving the metal ends of the hooks exposed. No effect on function, but could have been easily avoided. The other problem was that one of the tie-back straps had both ends sewn into the tent seam instead of just one end. I had to cut one end loose and sear the cut edge. It lost a little bit of length due to that, but again, no real effect on function. The price seems a little bit high to me when comparing to other products in this general class, although I couldn't find anyone else that makes this exact product. If I needed another one, I'd probably buy it again.

Great addition
Provides a lot of extra room at the back of the truck for camping, extra storage, and a place to put the heater on cooler nights. On a full size truck (F250) there are gaps around the bottom of the tailgate that need some kind of stuffing to deter small animals from investigating. Overall I am very satisfied with this alternative to tent camping.

Perfect!!
Super easy to put on my Ford F-250 Superduty short-bed and it solved the leaking hatch problem while also providing more space since I can keep the tailgate down. It poured rain one night during my last camping trip and I finally didn’t have to worry about the leak that had developed at the top of the hatch. There are two small things that I had an issue with but weren’t a big deal: 1) my canopy’s hatch flares out slightly at the part that meets the tailgate, so the square shape of the beige top portion doesn’t fit perfectly, but still works great and I didn’t have the problem of needing PVC piping to hold up the top like some other reviews mentioned; 2) at the stretchy corners where the tent meets the tailgate it’s not a perfect fit and there were spaces big enough to allow bugs to get in. I solved that by folding up a towel and placing over the open space at each corner - not fancy but effective. Overall this is such a great buy that has improved my truck camping experience!

Most Excellent!!!
I bought the DAC Truck Tent in 2016 for my 2000 Chevy one ton truck with an aluminum campershell I found beside a dumpster. I love it! It allows the tailgate area to be utilized for camp toilet, cooler & dog bed. It keeps the bugs & weather outside. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up/take down. I camp at least 4-6 times of year from 4 to 10 days and six years later it still performs just like it was brand new. I definitely got my moneys worth with this purchase. I have absolutely No Complaints about this product and have recommended it to many.February 2024 Update: after 8 years the DAC Truck Tent still works like a champ. Zippers flow freely with no hangups. The tent still holds it's shape and the bungees are good. I have an old salvaged aluminum truck topper so I cut pool noodles to fit across the edge & corners of the topper door to prevent poking holes in the fabric. There is only one spot on the driver's side back panel which has rubbed through from catching the window edge when I wasn't paying attention. I continue to recommend this product to others.5-25 Update - Notice last trip out the material is now allowing rain to serp inside. Might be time to treat it with a waterproofing spray and reseal the seams as the plastic seam seal has detached and is just hanging around now. Still no regrets regarding this purchase.

Just what I needed.
As others have noted, this in a "one size fits all" product. It may not fit very well on your truck. My truck (2013 Tacoma Pre-Runner) was several inches too narrow. I put together some tent poles to make up the difference and to hold the window open.I've used it once and got rained on with no leaks.Takes only a few minutes to set up, even with the extra step of adding the poles. If you want something that is an exact fit this may not be right for you, but there was no other option for my truck that I could find.Another complaint from others was that there were gaps at the bottom that could let insects in. I used a couple of towels. Not sure it that, or the Citronella spray kept them out.
