Helped to keep my apartment cool
Absolutely love this BLACK+DECKER fan with remote! It was incredibly easy to assemble, took me less than 10 minutes, and the build quality feels solid and stable. The remote control is a game-changer, allowing me to adjust the speed and oscillation without leaving my bed or couch. It offers three speed settings and a 90° oscillation feature that effectively circulates air throughout the room. The fan operates quietly, making it perfect for nighttime use, and the adjustable height and tilt ensure I can direct the airflow exactly where I need it. Overall, it's a fantastic value for the price and has made a noticeable difference in keeping my space cool and comfortable.

Super quiet!
I went for the scratch and dent deal and the only thing bad was some box damage. The item was brand new and undamaged. Saved some money on this awesome 18" fan. The fan is really quiet and built well. I wanted this fan because it has a round base because my old fan had four portruding legs and i smashed my toes one to many times! Highly recommend!

Too fragile for regular use.
Broke after 2nd use. When putting it together it felt kind of flimsy, with all the plastic parts. I bought this late-Summer of 2024 and only used it twice before the weather cooled off. Over the winter it was stored by the door to my deck, and a few days ago I heard a crash from that area.It turned out that my Roomba had bumped into the base of the fan, and the plastic part that holds the fan assembly on the base had simply broken. the fan was just handing by the cord after smacking the table it was next to on the way down. Now folks that have a Roomba know this already, but Roombas have bumpers that sense when they touch something and stop or change the vacuums' direction. I've had mine bounce off my bare feet with no problems, and my old dog used to herd it like a rodeo cow by letting it bump his paws.In short, a Roomba doesn't exert a lot of force when it bumps something... This fan is simply that fragile.Unfortunately it doesn't look like an easily replaceable part, and I don't want to get an exchange for the same fragile unit, so it will just go in the trash and I'll buy a different fan for this Summer. It's too bad. I grew up with the Black and Decker name being a decent, budget priced brand. The last three items I've gotten from them have been pure junk. This fan is the last straw... I won't be making that mistake again.

3 things you should know
What I would've liked to known before buying:(To be fair all this info is probably readily available but I was in a hurry to buy a cheap fan so I wasn't thorough in reading about it.)1. You CANNOT control the oscillating function (swinging motion) with the remote. You can only control this with a mechanical switch on the back of the fan. Luckily since the switch is mechanical you don't have to press it again every time you turn the fan on.2. Most of the assembly is easy, but the last step is very difficult and you will NEED 2 people to finish it. The hardest part is putting the wire cover that goes over the blades. Basically the front piece of the fan that says Black & Decker. You're supposed to get the plastic (back piece) to cover the wire, which is such a tight squeeze. I didn't think it was possible... and it really wasn't just using our hands. We had to use a butter knife to get the plastic around the wire while another person holds the cover in place so it doesn't pop out on the other side... It was like fitting 20lbs of meat into a 5lb sausage casing. The front cover stays on with mostly tension. I personally did my best to get the front logo straight, but it turned out slightly slanted because of the struggle we had getting it in place... I would have to undo the tension to fix it, but it's not even slightly worth it... I'd rather paint over the logo than have to put the cover back on.3. If you lose the remote you cannot control the fan speed. There is no button on the fan that controls speed. Just power and timer. Also keep in mind that every time you power the fan on it automatically starts at the highest speed. So if you do lose the remote it will be stuck on high speed.Would I still buy the fan knowing all this now? ABSOLUTELY. It was cheap and it's working great for what I need! The power is wonderful and it's keeping my room a lot cooler. It's really not noisy and I think it's because the blades are plastic. It's not silent, but I wouldn't say it's loud or anything. One thing that would bother a lot of people is the LED light on it. It is very bright, and will light up a small room that's in complete darkness. Definitely annoying if the blue light is pointed straight towards you... And I did see the review below that explains how to remove the actual light diodes, but it wasn't really worth the effort to me, and I am familiar with picking apart electronics. I did, however, end up using black nail polish to paint over each light, and it worked great for me. It needed two coats and the light doesn't shine through at all... AT ALL. So if you don't want to open the thing up you can cover the lights with paint, or get creative with something else.If I am being nit picky towards Black & Decker, and giving them a tip for the future: I wish the cord was attached at the base of the fan instead of the control panel. It hangs down from the back and doesn't touch the floor when away from the wall... It's ugly and depending on where you put the fan you might have to step over the cord...But again, it's cheap. It's working. It's all I needed! Hopefully it lasts a long time. Will update in the future if anything note-worthy comes up.

This lightweight fan replaced my old one. It is quiet and providing a desired airflow to the room. The remote is functional and I don't have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Plastic back shatters to bits
This fan works well. The remote is a nice feature. The back side of the fan is made out of plastic. I took it apart to clean it and it shattered to buts trying to put it back together. It you want something to last years, this may not be it.
