They work great. Excellent for freeze protection in my little greenhouses.
I've ordered these before. I use these in my little greenhouses with 40 and 60 watt incandescent bulbs when it goes below freezing. We are in the Dallas area and during the freeze in 2021 when the Texas power grid went down, we still had power and this helped keep our plants from dying and our pool equipment from freezing. They seal really well around the bulb so it is a tight fit. I have seen somebody say they don't work, don't believe it. The greenhouses are very damp environments and they work well. I have them connected to smart plugs and programmed so that if the temps drop below 38 degrees, they come on. When temps hit 40, they turn off. We have various exotic plans like pineapples, bird of paradise, olive trees, etc... We depend on these to protect our plants.

Exactly what I needed.
This looked fine to me. There was a small bit of plastic flashing (left over plastic from the manufacturing process) in the square hole where the square shoulder adjusting bolt and wing-nut goes but that was easily removed with a pocket knife with very little effort. The light has a friction adjustment, that is the mating of two surfaces with ridges. There ARE NO GEARS. You unloosen the wing nut a bit and adjust the light angle up or down and tighten the wing nut. There is no sideways adjustment so watch how you position it when you install. One nice feature is, it comes with the pictured ground stake AND a flat pedestal (not shown in picture) for attaching the light to a flat surface. Either is mounted to the light with the above mentioned bolt and wing-nut.You also get two long screws and plastic 'screw inserts' that you tap into a drilled hole (for the mounting screws if you use them) I didn't.The light had a nice weather seal around my little 50 Watt outdoor flood light bulb. My location uses the flat pedestal under a shelf so I'm not too concerned about water. There is NO on-off switch, when it's plugged in is ready to power the light (remember it has NO switch). Amazon has some nice illuminated plugin switches if you need on but I didn't.So, at this point in time it turns on and off fine. We are headed into Fall and Winter here in Indiana USA so that will be the real stress test but this is also the rainy season. You use this with a GFI (ground Fault Interrupter) which shuts off the power if something (like water) shorts to ground. Everything I have outside is on a GFI.It uses the standard normal 120 Volt screw in light socket (for USA anyway) but I would only use a bulb that is rated for outdoors. Rain splashing on a hot indoor bulb gives me the 'willies'....The cord looked about 5 or 6 foot in length (I didn't measure) It's all GREEN but I don't care.IF, I experience any problems with this I will update and change the stars from 5 to whatever.Just remember this is NOT a Low Voltage Light. So take normal precautions as it could hurt you. (120 Volts AC) Don't let water get into the power plug, if you do the GFI 'should' remove the power. Don't use this outdoors without using a GFI socket. Info: GFI sockets are used around sinks and bathrooms where there is water near electricity. At this point I'm happy with this and will save the 'push in ground stake' in case I relocate.I hope this helps you with your decision and I will update if needed. BTW have a happy Fall and Winter!

Great Product...
When I initially purchased i was concern about the performance and quality. Let me say the socket is high quality. I have tried them for a month ago and no issues. It rained, sprinkled, cold weather & warm weather (typically Houston Weather) and no problem at all. easy to install on the ground or on a wall. Truly recommend this product....

Perfect! Easy, fast lighting!
I love these things!Great price. Well made. I bought a bunch so I can put up tomporary color-spotlight lighting for Christmas and Halloween. We're the most festive/spookiests house on the block, thanks to these!Nice and sturdy. I would dig a hole first (I use a weed picker) before inserting into ground; the spike isn't sturdy enough to insert directly into our compacted/rocky ground. The head swivels up and down, and it's PRETTY good at staying at the height you need it. Sometimes I prop the bulb up with stones to give it extra support/so it doesn't move.I WOULD NOT leave these out for long periods of time or as a permanent fixture. They're not sturdy enough to act as a permament light fixture. But, mine stay out, for example, from late Nov to February and it has weathered just fine.

Great for the price
I looked at a number of flood lights to light up our Christmas displays. Every store around here was sold out. Some of the ones on Amazon were very pricey. I saw these and thought I'd take a chance on them. They work great. Nice, solid cord. Adjustable tilt. Comes with a mountable base too if you want to wall mount it. Rubber seal around base of bulb keeps out water. Has worked through several rainy days without tripping the GFCI protection.

... think you have to pay special attention to the recommended bulb type
I think you have to pay special attention to the recommended bulb type. I doubt if a regular Halogen bulb is suited for this light. The description specifically calls for an LED exterior light bulb, and it calls for a standard base. I put in a 65 Watt LED exterior bulb with a "medium" base, and was gentle in making sure I didn't over tighten it. Many of the negative comments here say that the base easily breaks, so I was especially careful not to screw in the bulb too tightly. But, I suspect that many of the customers that have experienced breakage of the base might be using a bulb that has a base that is over sized for the fixture, or they over tightened it. I really like the rain boot, and I think if you get the right size LED exterior bulb, with the correct size base, rated for exterior use, you shouldn't have any issues. Now, I'm just using this to light-up a nativity scene at Christmas, so it's not been out there very long as of this date. Upon visual evaluation, I think it should last many years in my kind of application. I just put it in, and haven't given it sufficient time to evaluate it long term. If I find there's any issues, I'll update the review at that time, and add or subtract the number of stars in accordance with my overall experience with it.
