Keeping My Trail Snacks (and Sanity) Chilled
As a Colorado transplant who spends most weekends exploring Colorado's trails, I always seek gear to keep up with my outdoor adventures. These Cooler Shock Reusable Ice Packs have become an essential part of my pack. They ensure that my food and drinks stay refreshingly cold, whether I'm summiting a 14er or just enjoying a picnic in Denver's Cheesman Park. Here's why I'm giving them a 5-star summit salute:Long-Lasting Chill: These ice packs are like the Energizer Bunny of cold—they just keep going and going. They stay frozen for an impressively long time, keeping my more extraordinary contents chilled for hours, even under the intense Colorado sun. No more lukewarm trail snacks or melted sandwiches to dampen my summit celebrations!Durable and Reusable (Just Like My Favorite Hiking Boots): These ice packs are built to last. They're made from rigid, puncture-resistant material that can withstand the bumps and jostles of a day on the trail. Plus, they're reusable, which aligns perfectly with my commitment to sustainability and minimizing waste.Versatile Sizes for Every Adventure: The variety of sizes is perfect for different needs. I use the larger ones for my main cooler when I'm car camping or heading to a Rockies game and the smaller ones for my lunch bag or to keep individual drinks cold on those long hikes.Quick Freeze for Back-to-Back Adventures: These ice packs freeze relatively quickly, so I can easily re-freeze them overnight after a day on the trail and be ready for my next adventure. No more waiting around for slow-to-freeze ice blocks! No Messy Leaks (Unlike My Attempts at Backcountry Cooking): Unlike traditional ice, these packs don't leak or create a watery mess in my cooler. My food stays dry, my cooler stays clean, and I can focus on enjoying the scenery instead of cleaning up a soggy mess.A Few Minor Considerations: While I'm pleased with these ice packs, there are a couple of minor drawbacks that I've seen mentioned in other reviews:Condensation: Some users have reported that the ice packs can form condensation on the outside. I've noticed this, but it's easily managed by wrapping the packs in a thin towel or placing them in a waterproof bag. It's a small price to pay for the convenience and long-lasting chill they provide. Not as Cold as Regular Ice: While these ice packs stay cold for a long time, they might not reach the same freezing temperatures as regular ice. However, they're sufficient to keep food and drinks refreshingly chilled on even the hottest summer days.Overall: If you're looking for reliable, long-lasting, and reusable ice packs for your cooler, the Cooler Shock ice packs are an excellent choice. They're a must-have for hikers, campers, picnickers, and anyone who wants to keep their food and drinks cold on the go. As someone passionate about exploring Colorado outdoors, these ice packs have become essential to my gear, ensuring that refreshingly cold snacks and beverages always fuel my adventures.

Great for keeping meds cool, stay frozen for flights
Technically speaking, I'm not convinced these packs would be capable of keeping things chilled for a full 48 hours. BUT they do say 24-48 hours, so I'm not deducting a star for that reason. I recently purchased these and used 2 in combination in an icemule jaunt to take refrigerated medication on a long flight followed by a drive before we'd reach refrigeration again. All told, I needed something could 1) stay frozen through TSA, and 2) keep my meds cool for 18 hours+. This system worked perfectly! All of my meds remained perfectly cold. The packs were slushy after 18 hours (including 90 degree temps for a few of those hours, BTW), but still plenty cold.Throughout our trip, we'd just pop the packs in the freezer of whatever rental we were in to have them ready for the next day. They worked reliably, including during long road trips in 90 degree weather. We only had one hiccup along the way when a hotel's minibar fridge/freezer apparently wasn't cold enough to refreeze them. Luckily, their kitchen agreed to pop them in their freezer while we were out sightseeing for a bit. We were back 3 hours later and had partially frozen packs--they do freeze pretty quickly. Our return flight was delayed, we missed our shuttle, etc, yet we still returned home with cold med in hand.Though I never had an issue with my meds freezing while next to the packs, others have mentioned it could happen. Twice when on longer road trips from one location to the next, our ground beef actually froze when between the packs! So, do take care if this is a concern. We've had to travel with refrigerated meds in the past, and these packs in combo with the icemule were by far the best system and most reliable. Won't hesitate to use them again!

Easy to fill
3 pack of large cooler size. The size is perfect for my soft sided AO cooler. Easier to fill than you might think. Have not yet tested the duration of staying frozen, will update after I get a hot sunny day (in Seattle?) to give them a trial.

Ice packs
They take a long time to get colds and then when they do they're stiff

So much better than the blue gel type ice packs
These ice packs are truly amazing! I camp and take road trips a lot and these are the best ice packs out there. First, they are super cold? Really, really cold! Secondly, they don't take up much room in the freezer or your cooler. They freeze back up quickly in the freezer after use. That said, when I camp for 5 days, I still do put bagged ice in my cooler as well, but if you are only needing a day of cooling these are great on their own. Highly recommend!

Great for coolers
These freezer packs hold their temperature extremely well. The mixing process is a little bit weird, I never felt like I got the amount of water quite right, but once they're sealed they freeze quickly and they hold their temperature for a long time.

Good cold retention, rugged packaging
I like these packs. I've used them twice to pack frozen foods into a suitcase, and with appropriate insulation and packaging, they arrived still frozen. The first time, there was a delay causing a 6 hr travel time to stretch to almost 24 hrs, and the food was still frozen (borderline), but definitely safe. The packs are delivered flat, with a dry gel inside. You add water and seal the cap, and they can be used time and again. Rugged design, right size.

Claims are greatly exaggerated
I've been using a cooler in my RV. 10 lb of black ice last 48 hours and keep things nice and cold. If I use two large frozen bags and two small ones and a 16 oz bottle of frozen water I can limp through 48 hours but it makes me a little nervous. No food poisoning yet. There is no way on earth that one of the large bags equals 6 lbs of ice. not on planet Earth. For now I'm going to continue using them because of the big advantage of no water mess.
