We have a well and the water needs treatment. Previously we were buying 1 gallon jugs of premixed NaOH 11% solution for about $8.00 per jug. We decided to try mixing the solution ourselves for several reasons, like avoiding the trip to the store and saving about $5.00 per gallon.The micro-pellets mix easily in the existing jugs leftover from earlier purchase. We add about 700 grams of pellets to about a gallon of water. When mixing we place the jug in a wheelbarrow full of water to keep the reaction cool (it is an exothermic reaction, meaning it gives off heat). Most of the micro-pellets mix immediately. The remainder mix the next days while basking in the sun.Mixing ourselves costs about $2.75 a gallon, saves us the trip to the store, and saves us the time and effort of hauling the jugs into the house from the car. It was a very good and economical solution to our water treatment needs.

I’ve used about 15 pounds of this stuff over the last 14 months to raise pH and alkalinity in my reef. Reefs are very sensitive to the tiniest amount of impurities- specifically metals. My reef is doing better than ever with this product. I mix 1400 grams(1.5 bottles) in 5 gallons and there is zero sediment at the bottom. The HDPE contains are very nice quality. I just decided to stock up with 32lbs. Alerted by another view I tared a scale with an empty bottle and weighed them all. They “should” weigh 907g. I saw wildly varying weights from 929 to 1081g averaging 990g. You get an extra 10% free! Great value in bulk.

Always great quality from Essential Depot, and awesome service too. I use this lye in my cold process goat milk soap. The only time I tried to use a different brand, it didn't dissolve properly and caused my soap to not turn out. So, this kind is all I use!

I make soap so buying these bottles makes transport very easy when measuring. I buy in bulk bucket but it was so much work every time I needed to measure out. Since buying these bulk ready measured bottles, it has been easier.
