Surprisingly capable for the price
I purchased this module for a PROVerXL 4030 primarily to cut thin plywood, and so far, I've been very impressed. The laser cleanly cuts through 2.5mm plywood in one pass at 280mm/min, which is fantastic. I've also been able to cut both black and white 1/8" acrylic, which is excellent. I have yet to try cutting thicker plywood or hardwoods, or any engraving, but I'm confident it will do the job. I also purchased a very small $25 fish tank pump to provide air assist. One plus side of mounting a laser on a CNC router (rather than a less expensive dedicated laser cutter/engraver) is the laser software can do a Z-stepdown between passes to change the focal point, which significantly increases cut depth - although this comes with a caveat: the air assist nozzle comes quite close to the material being cut, so if you want to do lots of Z-steps, you probably won't be able to use the air assist. My only real complaint isn't really about the laser, but rather the LaserGRBL open-source software - it's clunky and lacking features - but that's really not a knock on the laser itself. If I was less cheap, I'd just buy LightBurn (and I still might).Installation was pretty much as easy as could be - the laser plugged right into the control box with the provided cables and turned right on. I did have one nitpick: as some other reviewers noted, the screws that came with the laser mounting plate for the 4030 weren't long enough to reach the threaded holes in the back of the laser modules. Fortunately I had some longer screws on hand, but it would have been VERY annoying otherwise. All in all, if you already have a compatible CNC router this module is an inexpensive way to start laser cutting and engraving, reusing the equipment you have!

Nice laser
While this isn't the most powerful laser, it works well and is easy to get the correct focus using the supplied gauge. I use this on my CNC router to give it the capability to laser projects. I don't use it for cutting materials, but it has enough power to engrave wood and tile. This laser is mounter on my Genmitsu 4030 and the LASER TREE 20W 40W 80W Interface Adapter Board Transfer Board was not needed for this application. I have used Laser GBRL and Lightburn to control the laser and haven't had any issues with either one.

Works well but some issues
The first one I ordered broke within a minute - the blue LED stopped blinking right in the middle of the first test image. The SainSmart support at first requested too much info like pictures of all the receipts for the laser and the CNC machine, the cable I use, etc. But after I said that it is easier for me to just return it and get another one, they actually provided helpful guidance, which proved that the laser was defective and the CNC was OK.The replacement I received shortly works fine - cuts and marks the wood and plastic. But all my attempts to mark metals failed. I tried the Brilliance laser ink hoping to get at least some readable mark - no luck. And Gemnitsu do not make more powerful lasers for my PROVerXL 4030, which is very unfortunate.

Easy to install does work as expected
Install was easy not hard to do. Do use the connecter supplied by the unit. Only issue I would have, could not find all the specs about the unit as needed when setting it up in the software.

Instructions not clear. Faulty product
For the prover xl 4030 v2 the instructions included are completely wrong. For this machine it sits inside the 52mm bracket. Had to contact sainsmart for those instructions (they included pics which was great!).3 stars for now just based on that. I have not had time to fully test.Edit; Went to test and it did not work at all. Fan would not turn on and the laser would not fire. Tried multiple softwares including the sainsmart recommended LaserGRBL.Sainsmart nor amazon could figure out so I returned and got the same one. It arrived today and it's exactly the same as the first. Does not work at all.Rating down graded to 1 star.

Easy setup
I've had this unit for about 1 month. It seems well built and setup is easy. Beem is very tight (.1mm x.1mm) making it good for fine detail. Usable cutting depth is a bit overstated but otherwise it's a nice unit.
