Good set, but could use instructions
Usually when I have a stripped screw, I am faced with a multi-hour journey that involved a rotary tool to carve a notch and the slow, manual process of extraction. I had seen some extraction bits before at the home center, but nothing in the likes of a set. I am pleasantly surprised by the nuanced sizing in each bit.At first I tool a drill bit from the set and tried to drill on a two-by-four and was confused as to why the bits seemed dull. They are not dull.. they are backwards (counter clockwise to cut) bits... oh... that's what they meant by "left-hand bits"... I read that in the description but, from muscle memory, I take my drill and push the direction toggle right...After realizing how the bits cut, I went on to try it on some test screws made of different materials. Hardened steel like some drywall screws and galvanized screws were really hard to drill into. Then the same to tap. The issue with these is that, by the time one of these screws get stripped, they were likely subject to a lot of heat (from being drilled into a hard material) and that changes their hardness at a molecular level (metal tempering) which then could cause them to strip. I know that, but when I tested these bits I couldn't get any of the hardened steel to soften so I could strip them...So I moved on to "decorative" screws (often black or painted gray that came extra with some piece of furniture). I was able to easily strip a small number of them and try the extraction process:1) drill in to the head of the screw with the backwards bits2) identify and load an extraction bit (I found that the a size larger than the bit worked best)3) slowly extract the screwI do wish there was a proper set of instructions and recommendations (do I need oil to extract? Or just when drilling?). But I think I mostly figured it out. It's very handy and I am glad I got this set.For this I used my brushless power drill. I told my spouse to NOT use these bits for anything other than screw extractions because you'd want to keep them as sharp as possible.

It Works!
I had a stripped screw in a gazebo and needed to go to the hardware store to get a single extractor. That same day I saw this full set and ordered it! I'm a single woman and I hadn't used any extractors before in my life. In the past I had a husband that took care of anything like that, that needed done and in the past 11 yrs of being single I never had a need until now lol. I was a little intimidated when I opened the set and looked at it, but the directions were easy as pie to understand! -That in and of itself makes the set worth every penny. I've had so many items lately that had no directions, directions not in english, or ones that you absolutely can't make sense of that this set deserves 5 stars just for that in my opinion haha. Anyway, it worked perfect for me to get the stripped screw out of the frame! Like I've said, I've never used one of these ever so I had nothing to compare it to, but my father looked at it and said that this is a really nice set and he said the price was really cheap for all that you get. It comes in a nice little case too!

Perfect!
This screw extractor set is exactly what I have been looking for! I had a couple screws that were stripped after mounting some plant brackets onto some brand new wood posts. I wanted to be able to remove the plant brackets but was struggling to get the stripped screws back out, and I had no idea what to do….enter this awesome set and I was able to get the screws out with no trouble at all!If you have stripped screws, broken bolts, or otherwise difficult hardware items that are causing you trouble, this drill bit set will have you working again in no time. The set comes in its own case, and I felt that the instructions were very clear and easy to follow, particularly for someone like me who had never used something like this before.Definitely five stars ⭐️ and beyond for this set, A+++++! Highly recommend. I consider this an essential part of my tool kit now!

Not very strong
Sheered off first use with a ratchet, no breaker by a 50 year old woman. The broken piece was a Vespa mirror so it wasn’t heated or strengthen in any way. Should have come out very easily. Now it’s stuck with an easy or broken off in it. Probably not going to stand up to anything more than hang tight.

only used it twice so far...but
the extractors dug in nicely....the drill bits need to be treated gently I broke 2 on 2 tries....use oil and check speed ...let the bit do the work...i was a bit impatient...but they should be a bit stronger ..I replaced with cobalt bits. problem solved

It works!
A screw extractor is one of those things that ideally, you'll never need, but when you do, it'll often pay for itself the first time you use it.I had purchased a SINGLE extractor/reverse bit at a hardware store a couple of years ago and paid (if I recall), about $8 or $9. This set comes with a WIDE array of extractors/reverse bits, with each piece coming in at under $2 per item. When I ordered it from VINE, I already had a use in mind... a brass fitting on an outside hose bib had lost all but the shaft of the set screw that held it in place for the past 23 years, so no matter how much force was applied to unscrew the fitting, it wasn't going to go anywhere. It was just the sort of job designed for a screw extractor. As you can see in my photo, it worked! And hopefully, it'll be a while before I need to break out this set again, but when that time comes, I'll be ready!
