Not a Yaesu
Not sure why folks want to spend $39 and then are angry when the $39 radio isn't as good as a $300 Yaesu or Icom. That said, the UV-9R Pro is a fairly good all use radio. It is a UV-5R under the hood and that means no learning curve for Baofeng users. I have the long whip and speaker mike installed and as a package I like it very much. Send/receive is excellent, audio from mike and radio is very acceptable...no issues. IP67 rating test will have to wait for a test as I just cannot bring myself to dunk any radio into a creek.Have had it with me for a month in Western North Carolina after Helene for monitoring relief efforts. This radio is performing as well as my Yaesu VX5 ever did in austere conditions. It's been knocked around some, but I haven't done the drop test either.I really like this radio. No, it's not a $300+ Yaesu or Icom, but for $39 it's a solid, disposable radio that works real well inreal world scenarios. Battery life is very good and I charge this using 100% solar.Great value, great performance, programs the same as UV-5 series radios so short learning curve. Feels heavy/sturdy. In short, a great piece of kit.

Great starter radio
Plenty of features to get you an introduction to amateur radio (even more features in Factory Mode). It is a great value for the price. The sound quality is good enough, the range is fine. It is small and easy to carry, yet still easy enough to use the keypad. Being able to charge the battery via USB C is convenient. And it's easy to afford a few of them to play around with.

Beefy UV5R
Typical Baofeng, the first radio just didn’t work, customer service replaced it right away though and the replacement works great. It’s just a UV5R with a beefy waterproof shell, I like it a lot. I haven’t gotten to test the radio too much but picking up NOAA radio with the knock off 771 seems like it’s not a great performer.Still worth the money to get the kit just for the extra battery and programming cable

Great build quality, tons of features!
Surprisingly good build quality, great audio and very reliable. If anything the biggest issue is the somewhat difficult to understand user interface. It's not super intuitive, and you'll need to refer to the manual constantly. Otherwise, it's a great device!

Radio is garbage.
Radio says it’s waterproof.. absolutely a lie! Used one time and got caught in a rain storm with it and it shut off. Took home an dried the radio out completely and put new battery in and still won’t turn on. Junk! Don’t waste your money. But a better name brand radio. You will be better off!

Good but could be a lot better.
I have been a ham operator for 57 years and have a lot of experience with radios. This radio is good in that the receiver seems sensitive and the transmitter has clear audio. However, there is one problem that should not happen. I have programmed all of the NOAA weather frequencies into this radio. When I tune to the memory channel for my local station the squelch does not open and you hear nothing, even with the squelch set to zero. In order to receive the weather stations, I have to put the radio into frequency mode where I have the local NOAA station programmed and then tune off frequency 5 Khz and then back. The squelch then opens and you can hear the station fine. There is no product support. The link to product support on Amazon takes you to "Baofeng Tech". I left them a message and I got a reply from "BTech" saying its not their product. When I sent a note to Baofeng directly, they replied that they do not make the UV-9R Pro only the UV-9R and to contact the supplier. There are Pros to this radio:The case is solid and feels much better than the UNV-5R of which I own 4 ofThe radio is supposed to be waterproof. I'm not going to test that but its built a lot like my Yaesu VX-6R which is also waterproof.Battery life seems goodThe antenna seems good. I like that it is flexibleCan be recharged using a USB C cable (This is good and bad)Easy to program with Chirp. I copied the config I have from my UV-5R into the UV-9R Pro without any problemsThe FM broadcast radio works very well and seems sensitive.Cons:The NOAA weather radio issue discussed aboveWhen you recharge this radio using a USB C cable, the radio radiates noise and it reduces the sensitivity of the receiver. Even some local repeaters drop out when you are recharging the radio and come back when you unplug the USB C.I bought 2 of these radios. If you have one turned off and plugged into a USB C, the other one has to be at least 4 to 5 feet horizontally or 1 to 2 feet vertically away or the receive sensitivity is reduced.I'm not a big fan of the belt clip. I'd rather have one that is fixed.I bought these to use with the CERT group in my community in Florida. I wanted something that was inexpensive and waterproof and this radio should do the job. I'm going to keep these now that I know what the problems are and how to work around them. I would not recommend this radio to a new user because of the issues listed above and the total lack of product support. I'm giving this radio 3 stars.

Solid build, audio quality, and price point. Reliable performance. Five stars.
The UV-9R Pro has the same high-quality build and features as the UV-9R Plus and the UV-9R Era, hower this model has 3 charging modes - cradle, USB, or automobile. Mine is pulling in 5 by 9 VHF and UHF signals from repeaters 70+ miles away with the stock antenna. This transceiver accepts an SMA female x SO-239 female adapter for use with more powerful antennas. Recommended.
