It brought my technique up to satifactory
I've never been happy with my sharpening technique, but this stone brought me up to "passable," which is saying a lot. It's a quality stone that is easy to use and that gets very good results quickly. I'm surprised to say a stone makes such a difference, but does.

A Super Whetstone
I've used lots of sharpening whetstones over the years. For the money this is tough to beat. Cuts well and fast and smoothly. It's all the sharpening stone you really "need" for kitchen or hunting knife use. This stone and a good leather strop to touch up your edge once in a while and you are golden. One thing that I did that you might consider -- This is sold as an "oil stone" and comes with oil on it. I soaked this stone in a solution of warm water and degreaser for about an hour (Purple Power). Then scrubbed it with soap and water, then rinsed well with warm tap water. I use only WATER on this stone when sharpening. Works beautifully. And NO MESS. But you must degrease it first.

good starter
this is a good stone for nik removal and bevel reprofiling, I was surprised how sharp I could get my knife only using this combo stone.

Just Added This Vintage Bad Boy to My Sharpness Arsenal.
Just picked up this classic black brick, and it's got that vintage vibe for real. It's a no-frills kinda thing – coarse side for gettin' the edge back, fine side for makin' it slick.Feels solid in your hand, like somethin' your grandpa would've used. It's got that nostalgic feel, ya dig? Like it's seen some action and still ready to bring the sharpness back.Haven't had a chance to get my blades all retro-sharp with it yet, but you can just tell this thing's gonna do the trick. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways, and this Norton stone seems like a prime example. Straight up classic!Made in Mexico. This review represents my personal opinion and experience with this product. Fantastic!!!
I cut paper thin chicken slices to dehydrate for my pets and was desperate to find a good knife and a way to keep it razor sharp. Found the knife and my son suggested this stone, it is fantastic! I have it on the counter, every time I need the knives sharp just use it a bit and it is like magic.

Stone made of cheese.
Stone immediately started deteriorating upon first use. Leaving heavy slurry of stone abrasive material. After about a week it was already down to less then half of its original thickness. Poor quality. After decades of using Norton combination stones in the machining industry, this is a major disappointment.
