Great Laptop, You won't regret it.
I've had this laptop for a few days. I'd consider myself a computer nerd, Love new tech and I was in the market for a new laptop, my old Lenovo recently met the end of its usefulness.I bought the 1080p, 256gb ssd, I7, 8gb ddr4, 1060 version of this Alienware 13 r3. The intent was to add another ssd and more ram.Immediately after receiving this device, I played on it with the purchased specs, and it was pretty snappy and fast.I since have added a 1tb m.2 ssd 2280 length in the secondary slot, that only took a couple minutes to add, along with 8gb more of ram.The machine performs admirably. I play civ5 and diablo 3 on it alot, and its very satisfying. It more then meets my performance expectations.Thing I'm most impressed with, is the build quality, oh my. As a mech. engineer, I like the durability, and choice of materials of this laptop. I feel like I really purchased something strong and that will last.I've owned quite a few desktops for gaming, and laptops for business, or gaming. This is up there as one of the best I've had or played with. I will be using this with Office 2016, and surfing the web, and gaming lightly. So far, I highly recommend it. The size is nice for portability, it isn't too heavy for me. I've noticed it gets warm like most gaming laptops, but nothing that's worry-some.I really can't say enough good things about it. Like other reviewers have said, about the Facial Identification. It's nice as well.Buy it if you want performance and small size factor.

Alienware Masterpeice
I've only had this for a couple of weeks so keep that in mind for this review. Overall this laptop is superb! Alienware has never disappointed me and this laptop excels in every category I can think of. It's wicked fast, smooth as butter and the build quality is top notch. The display is beautiful and with an i7 and 1060 I have been able to play any new game title on at least high settings, most on maximum. It's essentially flawless. An absolute breeze to intially set up. The only non-super positive thing I can say about it is that it is somewhat larger and heavier than U might expect. However, with the right backpack or bag, for me anyway, it isn't an issue. I absolutely love this laptop! It is a marelous peice of engineering and craftmanship.

The laptop itself is one of the most beautiful and well crafted i ever see
The laptop itself is one of the most beautiful and well crafted i ever see. BUT after 2min on pluged on ac adapter eh turn itself of a smell came from the ac plug on laptop. The laptop now appears to be dead. Cant turn it on because this problem. The history:I came to visit my daughter. Im from Brazil, she lives on US and i was planning to buy this laptop to my stepson. So i did buy normaly. When i arrive to my daughter house i did powered on the laptop to see if it was working and it was normal, them i just powered off.Coming back to Brazil i gave it to my stepson, he work with eletronics. He conected the ac adapter and turn on the laptop. About 2 minutes and the laptop power off and some smell came from the power jack on the laptop. The ac adapter turned off. When you plug the ac adapter he turn on, but as soon as you conect to the laptop he turn itself of and some smell came from the ac jack on the laptop.I never neither him experienced this kinda of problem. This is the 2rd laptop i brought on Us and gave to him first was a $1000 refurbished gateway worked flawless. And this was a $1599 plus taxes about $200 and did not worked at second attempt.Really disapointed with alienware, he already buyed a grafics amplifier on Brazil but here we dont have the alienware 13 r3. Neither the configurations he wanted.Sad story hope that he resolves that.

TL;DR: Don't buy it
There are many great things about this computer. But there are also a lot of negative things. Let's start with the good.Good things:1. Great keyboard: I personally thought this was one of the best non laptop keyboards I have used. Of course, it doesn't come close to mechanical switches, but for gaming on the go this is the next best thing.2. Build quality is definitely up there. This laptop is ridiculously heavy and you know you could stop a bullet with it if feces hit the fan.3. Trackpad is actually decent enough to use when doing everything else besides gaming. Now the bad:1. Who in the heck would buy a 13 inch laptop that is this heavy? Gaming on a 13 inch laptop is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I play a lot of League of Legends (I know I am so sorry everyone) and your overall vision is greatly hindered.2. While I praised build quality, the weight is honestly a huge turn off. I don't know what the point of a portable sized laptop being 6 pounds is for. It's a total lose-lose in by opinion.3. It's really not worth buying this for the brand/build quality. You're only getting a GTX 1050Ti and 8GB of RAM. You can do better looking elsewhere.4. I also had a bunch of issues with the built in AlienFX. And Windows went to Blue Screen of Death more than a few times. Not sure what the dealio is.Conclusion:1. This computer really doesn't have a target niche of people to sell to. For those who want gaming on the go, this is too heavy for its size. For those who want to use this as a primary device, this is too underpowered for higher end games and too small.

Nice for gaming, with some caveats
This machine is really powerful, heavy and big (despite its 13" screen). Much what I expected. What I did not expected was the screen backlight to bleed from the bottom, because some sort of adesive tape didn't do it's job. Every once in a while I need to pass my finger in the screen bottom frame to stick it to it's place again. Not what I would expect from a "premium" gaming device.
