Great kit, clear instructions, easy to install
I bought this kit so I could avoid the mess of extension cords for future PG&E planned and unplanned outages. I ended up installing it myself after failing to get any electricians to call me back - except one who quoted $2000-$3000 for installation! As others have reported, installation is pretty simple and the kit comes with almost everything you need. Here's what else I needed, almost all for the power inlet box installation:- A few feet of 10-gauge wire in green, white, black, and red, plus a few feet of 1/2" flexible metal conduit (FMC)- A pair of 1/2" FMC squeeze connectors- Some conduit straps to route it along the wall out of the way- 3 screws to attach the power inlet box to the front of the garageI also needed some UL-listed plastic ties to help organize the 22 new wires coming into the panel. The wires in the kit are stranded so they don't stay in place like the solid-core Romex. One other thing, I also bought a plastic bushing for where the wires come into the panel - not sure if that's really needed, but far easier to do early in the installation. The wires coming out of the switch are just shy of 4 feet long. The ground and neutral wires are a few inches longer. Subtract 18 inches for the length of the whip, and a couple more inches for entry into the panel, and you have a little more than 2 feet to route inside the panel. I couldn't find this information anywhere online so I hope it helps. The installation manual is amazingly clear and well-written. I found a tiny mistake - step A1 says to locate a 3/4" knockout on the main panel, which is probably true for the 6-circuit model, but the 10-circuit model uses 1" whip and fittings so you need a 1" knockout. I emailed customer support, and 5 minutes later they replied that they'd pass this on to the documentation department. Nice!In case you're wondering like me about the breakers. The pre-installed breakers are only for when the circuit is running off the generator. Most of them are 15 amp while most of my circuits are 20 amp, but I don't feel like changing them since anyway we should be cautious about power usage with the generator, and it doesn't affect non-generator usage.

It works as advertised
Arrived quickly. Contents complete and in good condition.Watched several videos of the installation and is potentially easy. My installation was a bit of a challenge, but got it done in an afternoon.Only ambiguous part, for me, was the white wire from the main breaker. A complete wiring diagram would have been helpful 'for me'.Satisfied with the product and seller. Had ordered one previously from a different seller and was sent a different model. Prompt refund and reordered from this seller and received what I ordered.

Well made, works well, straightforward install.
This kit works well. I installed it in the wall with their flush mount kit. The labeled wires make connections easy. The included conduit is a little short for my installation, but the longer conduit included in the flush mount kit worked. The right angle conduit connectors are a little restrictive, but workable. In testing, the circuit switching, breakers, connections and watt meters all worked fine. It is a fair amount of work to install and connect, but well worth it in the end. The generator cable connection box is well made and easy to install. The cable worked fine and is a good length for my setup. Recommended!

Great product
Arrived way before schedule. Was very easy to install with only little electrical knowledge. Seems well built and works perfectly.Only thing left to be desired is longer wiring. The directions suggest you mount 18 inches from main box but even with mounting it directly next to the main, I cut it very close on a few circuits reaching the main breakers. Other than that, it’s a great product

You won't find a better transfer switch for the money.
This was the perfect choice for my situation. I needed 10 circuits or else I would have to do without TV! This system is fairly easy to install for intermediate handymen out there with some electrical experience. Very flexible too. I was able to swap out a couple of the 15amp breakers and replace with 20 amp. I also replaced a 2 pole 20 amp with a 30 amp for the water heater. Some the the other transfer switches out there have proprietary circuits and you would have to pay them big bucks for anything like that. This switch uses very the common Siemons breakers that are available at Home Depot or most any suppliers. Now we are ready for that next power outage. I think the most watts this switch can handle is 7500, so if you have a larger generator you might need get a different transfer switch.

I love this thing.
Holy cow. No more extension cords, easy to install, works great. Not for 'beginners' but not that hard either. Well done instructions. The included extension cord can be cut and used between the switch and generator plug box inside flexible conduit from the home d store. Why did I wait so long? It made made the recent 3 day outage easy to tolerate because I bought a larger generator (Champion) here at the same time so I could run the well pump and lights and TV. Get the 10 circuit rather than the 6, you'll end up using them all like I did for stuff you didn't think you needed. Other than being able to hear the generator, it was like the power never went off.

Easy to install and works well
The instructions were clear, and the Reliance installation video series (avail on YouTube) was fantastic. The videos are so good and clear that it makes you feel confident you can do it yourself, even with limited electrical experience. If you're a reasonably handy DIYer, you will be pleased with this Transfer Switch. Also, the quality of the hardware is excellent.
