RazoRock German 37 Slant Razor - Torsionshobel

I received my RazoRock German 37 Slant Razor this morning, January 21st. The delivery was scheduled for the 23rd - 26th. It's nice to have a purchase arrive early!I began wet shaving with a DE razor in April, 2015, when I bought my basic Feather razor with the black plastic handle. Up until this morning's initial shave with my new RazoRock German 37 Slant I have used that Feather with Feather blades. I'm pretty meticulous when shaving, and my experience with the Feather-Feather combo has been good. But recently I have noticed an increase in the mentions of "slant" razors and their effectiveness. When I discovered Amazon's low price on this RazoRock I decided to order my own and try it out. And I'm glad that I did.To form my initial opinion I decided to address my 3-day's-growth with a one-pass, with-the-grain shave using Neutrogena shave cream and a Feather blade that had already been used for 3 shaves in my Feather razor. The result: a shave at least as close as I get with the Feather razor, NEW Feather blade, and executing THREE passes (with-the-grain, across-the-grain, and against-the-grain). I was hoping to get good results, but I must admit to being very impressed with the excellent shave this RazoRock 37 Slant delivered. AND, this impressive first shave was delivered with absolutely NO irritation. None.The 37 Slant is a 3-piece model. The handle is crafted of stainless steel and feels hefty, in a very good way. The 2-piece head is made of a lighter metal and is nicely chromed. Loading a blade into the head is simple, and once the head is fully screwed into the handle the fit is superb, allowing not one bit of blade slippage or movement. I did not encounter any difficulty in screwing the head into the handle.I would have considered my purchase of this RazoRock German 37 Slant safety razor to be a good deal even if it had cost 3X what I actually paid. Considering that it cost about half of what I'd pay for a 12-pack of Fusion cartridges at a retail store, I'm saying that it's one of the best purchases I have ever made!I give the RazoRock German 37 Slant my highest recommendation!👍🏻UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE04 May 2018I have been wet shaving with DE razors for a little over 2 years, and I have been using this RazoRock German 37 Slant for about 15 months The really good news is that there is nothing new to report. In spite of heavy usage and several drops from lavatory counter height onto my ceramic tile floor, the 37 Slant has retained its original shape. The slant head threads onto the handle as smoothly now as ever. Close inspection reveals no chips or dings in the shiny chromed finish. Nothing has changed my opinion as concerns the RazoRock German 37 Slant Razor and the shaving experience it provides . . . and it STILL gets my highest recommendation!

I am a long time DE wet shaver with a lot of high-end razors in my stable, but I’ve always been intimidated by the IDEA of a slant razor. Looking at them I probably felt the same way my friends feel looking at my DE and straight razors. They looked crazy, crooked, unhinged, and dangerous to me! They didn’t make sense in my mind. But after watching a few of Razor Emporium’s videos regarding their slant razor and other brands, and a few more videos by other folks (including one comparing this razor to the Merkur 37), I became intrigued. Could it really be as nice to use as they say?Let me tell you in all honesty that not only CAN it be that nice, it actually IS!I tested it out right after my post work shower this evening. This razor assembled easily and intuitively and with an Astra blade and one pass I was what I considered to be “decently “ shaved. By decently, I mean I could’ve gone out or to work just fine. The only reason I even made a second pass was because it was so enjoyable to use this razor! It glides effortlessly across your face/beard “slicing” the hair instead of “cutting” it , if that makes sense. My beard literally just disappeared. Zero razor feeling of cutting or pulling or pressure. It was like it just erased my whiskers. A surreal but enjoyable experience.I know it was only one shave, but this was the most effortless shave of my life! Do yourself a favor and buy this thing!

I didn't even know that there were multiple slant razors available from different brands. All I ever knew about was the Merkur.The RazoRock 37 is FANTASTIC - especially for the price. Some people seem to have a problem setting the blade, but I haven't had that issue.It works even better for me than the Merkur Slant. This is because it is more aggressive. I use Feather blades.Clearly, everyone needs to try everything out to see what works for you, but this cheap slant is probably the best razor I've ever owned. I would definitely recommend this for 1st time safety razor users. I consider my skin to be on the sensitive side and this more aggressive razor took more whiskers out - but irritated my skin less.I can't wait to purchase the other brands and models to see how they compare.-=[UPDATE]=-After having owned this for a while, I think I need to underscore how aggressive this thing is. It's the most aggressive razor I've ever used, apart from an adjustable. This is certainly not a bad thing, it just is what it is. If you already know you don't like aggressive razors, this really isn't going to be for you. I'm still cycling blade brands to see what combinations work better.

I have a Viking Cheftain as my go-to razor. I've been using Vostok blades and its an absolute dream. Because the blades are inexpensive I use 1 blade for 4 shaves and throw it out. It took me a while to find a good fit with the Voskhod blades and during that journey I purchased a lot of blades from various manufacturers. That where THIS RazoRock Slant Shaver comes in. The Slant blade has the ability of resurrecting blades. I can throw a 4 shave Voskhod in the Slant and it shaves like a new blade, sometimes even better. I've tried various blades in the Slant and the results are always the same. The slant design allows for a very close shave. My only advice is to operate slower than usual and to take your time. The experience is great and this shaver is well worth it if you have a ton of blades in your cupboard.
