Where anything is possible.
I have never seen anything quite like this fine film. If you appreciate imagination and creativity, then add this underrated movie to your collection. Stellar cast.

Fun Evening of Entertainment
Interesingly, a lot of the movies I've seen on here sound great and turn out to be duds, and then what sounds like a dud ends up being good. This fortunately is the latter, and I was also lucky it was available through freevee at the time. I chose to watch it because I love Eva Green, and I liked Asa Butterfield in Hugo, plus I think I have liked every Tim Burton movie I've seen, not to mention that I'm into fantasy in general. I have never heard of the book series. (It sounds like that might be a good thing in this case, though I'm not one to get too upset over changes from a book. It happens all the time.)I should point out that I didn't think this was great, but it was good and a fun evening of entertainment. A few of the reviews from folks who read the books said this would be difficult to follow without knowing the books, but I followed it just fine. The loop was an unusual concept (though not the only movie with this concept), the peculiars were, well, peculiar and not really what I expected (I'm not sure what I did expect), and I thought everyone did a fine job. Again, not "great," but fine. I don't concern myself if everyone is not quite great as long as it's watchable and someone doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and make me lose my suspension of reality. Though Emma could have been a bit more interesting - whether that was the character, the actress or directing choices, I don't know. Eva Green was great as usual. (Though I couldn't see her cute freckles through the makeup, but I love her voice and she looks great with dark eye makeup.)The scenery was cool, but it *is* kind of right up my alley. I was partially turned on by the cover picture of that house. And the ship, of my gosh! I didn't know that was in there. I love ships. Of course, there were the disagreeable parts as well, which didn't bother me but I could see how it's not appropriate for younger children, which is a bit of a shame since it feels like it *ought* to be a good children's story. (On the other hand, it's Tim Burton.)
