For many years we have put out hummingbird feeders in our yards. When the ants found the feeder, we would pull up the staff and move it to a place where the ground appeared to be ant-free. Somewhere between a week and a month, we would discover the ants had found the feeder and move the feeder again. I looked for solutions to the problem, but some things were messy (Vaseline on the pole) and some too much trouble (wipe down the staff twice a day). I came across this device and while skeptical, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out for the amazing price. We put one on each of the bird feeders last spring and didn't have to move the staffs even once. The device worked for the whole summer. I have just ordered two more for this summer.
