Great Set of Paintbrushes for Artists Upgrading
Design: Design-wise these brushes are very pretty! They definitely would make a great gift for an artist. I love how sleek the brushes look, and they remind me of higher-grade paintbrushes. The faux metal finish is quite nice, almost reminds me of those higher-end inking pens. Performance: I’ve previously worked with very cheap brushes, and it’s such an upgrade to be using these brushes. While I adore my $6 Aliexpress brushes, one of my biggest gripes with cheap brushes is the strands sticking out, and falling out at random times. If retractable makeup brushes already exist, I’m sure several paintbrushes out there do that too. That being said I like the design of these travel brushes. The whole gimmick of this brush is that’s portable, and you assemble it when you are ready to use it. The brushes are designed where the head is stored in the base, and you pull it out and stick it on top, and it securely adheres to the base. I haven’t personally tried an art brush like this before, so I found the design quite innovative. Plus the case it came in was so nice and sturdy.Brushes: So let’s move on to the actual performance and feel of these brushes. If you’re like me and have previously worked with cheaper brushes, these will feel so much nicer than the brushes you have worked with before. The hairs are thick, sturdy, softer, and plush, and the individual strands stay in place. All of these characteristics of the brush allow you to be able to draw more precise lines. Let’s be clear, it’s not impossible with the cheaper brushes to make precise lines. You totally can, and I have in the past. But I’d waste a lot of time, having to constantly wet my brushes to make sure the strands didn’t fray, and I’d still get some stray fanning. It is so nice to not have to worry about that, and just focus on my lines. Personally, for me, it would be difficult to go back to cheaper brushes after trying nicer brushes, and I feel like my upgrade of brushes is certainly going to be in the midrange. Here are my impressions of each individual brush: Round 4: Round 4 is the most versatile on how washed out and opaque you can make the lines. It’s a very pointed brush that allows you to make precise lines. I found myself gravitating towards this brush.Round 1: I absolutely adore this brush. I like making very bold lines, and having a thin brush is important for changing the line weight as I draw. My watercolor pad is pretty tiny, and I prefer working with thinner brushes/ I have to say of all the brushes, Round 1 was certainly my favorite brush! I loved how thin and precise the lines were while painting. The brush reminded me of calligraphy brushes/g-pens, with its capability to make thin and wide lines. It is certainly my most used brush.8 Filbert: The Filbert 8 unsurprisingly is capable of filling big areas on the paper. The brush isn’t the most opaque and is a lot more washed it. I used Filbert to fill out the color for the background. I do wish there was a bigger brush included in the set because it would make filling out backgrounds so much quicker.6 Flat: The flat brush gives you the most opaque color and is ideal for filling color. I also liked how thin you could make the lines. If you like packing pigment, the 6 Flat would be the ideal brush.Price: Compared to other paintbrushes in this category, this seems to be a mid-range price. These types of paintbrushes seem to go anywhere between $10-56. It was slightly pricier than some other paintbrush sets. But I liked the quality of the paintbrushes, so I’m not too upset.Overall Thoughts: I adore this set! It’s a great upgrade from my cheaper brushes, and it’s a nice-looking set, plus it’s tiny enough to store in a purse, backpack, or drawer. It would make a nice gift for an artist! I certainly love playing with the brushes, and will continue to do so! I'm very happy with this set!

Handy. They fit in a pencil pouch.
The media could not be loaded. I thought they would be more like retractable erasers, but these are more like transforming brushes in that they flip around so the brush is housed inside the length of the brush. This allows you to carry around a full-length brush without having to figure out how to protect them from the dangers of transit or carry around a bulky case. The way they're constructed also means that the brushes have to be as dry as possible before they're put back inside, or the moisture will be trapped inside and wreck your brush way before the end of their life span. They aren't very large, so if you're doing it properly, they should dry quickly, probably about the same time it'll take your piece to dry enough to transport if you're working in a sketchbook or something that goes inside of a bag. Nothing out there to say about the brushes. They're really nice, soft, and very flexible, so they react well to varying amounts of pressure. The finest brush is thin enough that you can get some serious detail even in smaller-sized works, so you don't feel like you're limited. If you're a heavy wet-on-wet painter, and you're working with a decent-sized area, at least larger than a pocket sketchbook, I'd suggest supplementing it with a large brush to get a more even coat, but anything that's travel-sized, these four should pretty much cover everything. I really like that it's compact. It's about the size of a travel set of watercolors, so it fits in my pencil case with them, and that's really nice. It came in handy when I took them with me on the plane. The eco-leather feels so fancy, and it looks really nice and professional. It wouldn't feel out of place in a professional watercolorist's travel bag. One thing about the way these brushes are made is that if the opening of the tube is even a bit off, it won't feel as secure when you flip it around to use and may separate prematurely while you're trying to get them out of the case. Don't be alarmed. It won't fall out or pop off unless you're putting a lot of pressure on the brush. It's stable when assembled, and you can get the rest of the brush out pretty easily by slipping it back into the tube and pulling it out a bit slower. I'd suggest storing the brushes with the round part out. This will stretch the sleeve a bit and make it easier to pull the whole thing out at one time. All in all, it feels like they took their usual high-quality brushes and made a high-quality travel version. Five out of five.

Perfect brushes and perfect seller
What a great set of brushes! I have just begun watercolor painting and after reading many reviews I chose these. I made the right choice! The have a lovely balance and are a perfect selection of sizes. The wallet is a real bonus and makes the set beautifully transportable. If you are looking for a smart, elegant and a-joy-to use set of portable brushes, don’t hesitate to buy these. What’s more the company itself is great to deal with. Excellent communications, useable free gifts and helpful advice. They have a strong community ethos which I also admire. I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Excellent set of brushes!
I purchased these brushes for a couple of reasons: first, because they are synthetic, I truly couldn’t paint with a brush made from animal hair, regardless how good it would be. Second, this set has the “Cat tongue” brush, which I really wanted to try with my paintings, a brush that is harder to find. I can not say how satisfied I am with this purchase. The brushes are by far not only for beginners. They feel very well in my hand, not too small, not too big, not heavy or light. Just right! They hold water very well, very nice to paint with them... Now, I will have to keep using them and see how well they last!
