The Tefal Breadmaker makes great tasting Loaves
I am very pleased with the Tefal Breadmaker (Pain & Delices). I have baked 3 loaves, starting with the recommended Basic White Bread - Program 4. While the recipe for this loaf is not in the accompanying color recipe book, it is in the smaller booklet on page 6. The loaves have been very good with a strong crust and soft crumb. The paddle got stuck in to the first loaf. I then smeared the item that the paddle fits on with a little sunflower oil and had no problem with loaves 2 and 3. Depending on the flour that you are using, you may have to add 2 or 3 ml of extra water if you find the mix to be too dry. The Breadmaker is quite quiet when mixing the dough with very little vibration and the controls are easy to use. The bread has a nice taste and overall the Breadmaker is very good value. I am also pleased with Program 11 entitled ‘Leavened Dough’ I used the white bread recipe and the wholemeal one to make 2 batches of 8 soft rolls. The program lasts 69 minutes. Just fill the bread pan with the ingredients as if you were going to make a loaf. The bread maker mixes the dough for the first 9 minutes, then kneads the dough for the next 20 minutes then takes the dough to the first proofing stage for the remaining 40 minutes. Once finished, take out of the bread pan, flatten it to get the air out, shape it into 8 or 10 round roll shapes, cover with a towel and give it its second proofing for 60 minutes before baking in the main oven at 180°C for 17 or 18 minutes.

Great Breadmaker - really impressed
So glad I purchased this Breadmaker, after much deliberation! This is our first Breadmaker but so far, we have successfully made a basic white loaf, a wholemeal loaf, brioche and easy bread machine sourdough. We have also used the leavened dough setting to make hot cross buns. After a bit of trial and error, we now only use the light crust setting - the medium crust is a bit too hard. The recipe book that comes with the machine is pretty good for basic ideas to get you started, but I would also recommend “bread machine easy” by Sara Lewis which has a great variety of different recipes to try. I would highly recommend this machine!

Good but -
Likes:Makes a wholemeal loaf quite quickly, under three hours for the smallest size. I used the recipe in the book (65% wholemeal) and it was delicious. I've also made a hot cross bun loaf using the sweet programme, also delicious. The measuring tools are excellent, best out of all the breadmakers I've had (I'm including Panasonic in that). The measuring spoon measures in quarter, half, three-quarter and full teaspoon, same with tablespoon. The cup for liquids has lovely clear, red markings, making it really easy to read. The loaf sizes are good and the shape is nice. The crust colour is good.Dislikes:The hook for removing the paddle when it's stuck in the bread is tricky to use, I wish I'd kept the one from my old breadmaker. It's a bit bigger than I'd thought, a couple of cms in all directions. Just enough to prevent me leaving it out, I have to put it in a cupboard and get it out every time - but it's not too heavy so no problem there, really. It seems to mix to obe side, I find I need to check and use a spatula to physically move the dough from one side to another during the initial mixing. The recipe book is only any good if you want to cook gluten-free bread. The ordinary 65% wholemeal loaf is delicious, but there's no recipe for basic white bread or French bread - so that's two programmes that there are no recipes for. You'll need a breadmaker cookbook to get the best out of your machine. To be fair, I bought this simply because it had good reviews and I couldn't afford a Panasonic. It is also the best breadmaker I've had other than a Panasonic, so overall it's a good buy.

Great breadmaker
This was bought as an early Christmas present from my sons. It's a perfect size and easy to store when not being used. Following the sandwich bread receipe, the bread was perfect, golden brown and tasted delicious. I'm looking forward to trying out many more of the receipes included in the book. Overall, great value for money, very compact and easy to use, its also quiet, and works away in the background unnoticed. It's versatility and 20 programmes available is spot on. I'm delighted with this gift.

Diaappointing
I was persuaded by so many good reviews but I have had very disappointing results. I followed the instructions exactly for basic white bread and it was uneven and very solid every time. I tried the quick recipe and a ready bread mix. The recipe book is completely inadequate. Other recipe books have ingredients added in different proportions and in different orders so are difficult to use.The rise time seems much shorter than my lovely old Panasonic bread maker which had clear instructions for each bread option. My advice is don’t buy this one!
