Querkles: Animals Paperback – August 9, 2016

I just have to say that I am totally in love with Querkles! I've bought all four books, and this author is amazing! If you are a creative type who loves adult coloring books, but also enjoys using your left brain for mind bending puzzles, then this is definitely the right fit for you. It is so much fun to start out with a bunch of random circles and end up with a masterpiece. I've used markers and colored pencils, and both turned out equally good (pictures are attached). I think it strictly comes down to personal preference, and I like to alternate what I use. I will say that I enjoyed the Animals and Masterpieces books the most because the Cats and Icons books get a little repetitive (cat after cat vs. person after person). I prefer being surprised by my work in progress, and hope that the author makes more books with a greater variety in the future. The perforated pages make it easy to share with others, and everyone I've shown these to has gotten themselves hooked and went on to order their own books. Give it a shot - I promise, you won't be disappointed!HINT: If you are going to use markers, I suggest starting with the lightest color first, and gradually working to the darkest. For instance, color all the 5's, then all the 4's, and so on till you get to all the 1's. This will prevent the darker colors from bleeding and give you crisper lines. I have attached a series of pictures so that you can see the process.

Very nice Coloring book

The book was larger than I'd planned (should have read the specs). I've gotten into the habit of scanning my coloring pages so that I can color them digitally on my tablet; these pages are too large for that, and phone-scanning doesn't come out clear. So I settled to color normally.I don't suggest crayon as a medium. Pencil, marker, or pen seem to be the better choices. I do like the results and how you can choose your own color scheme -- it only suggest to go from darkest to lightest, 1-5.I fully plan to buy others in the series.

I would have made this 5 stars except my book had some printing errors where the ink cut off before the end of the image and some circles didn't have numbers. I did not have this issue with the Cats Querkles book.I found the Cats book in a little shop on vacation and fell in love. I even ended up buying a huge set of nicer markers so I would have a large range of colors to work with.It might sound absurd to a normal person, but to someone with ADHD, sometimes just choosing colors to go where and how many colors, and making the wrong choice can put a damper on the coloring experience. In reality, coloring books aren't a big deal and should be something to relax and have fun, but sometimes your brain thinks otherwise.With Querkles, you choose 5 colors, lightest to darkest and that's it. You don't have to worry about what goes where or if it's the wrong choice. And because it ends up looking semi-impressionist in the end, staying inside the circles isn't a huge issue.Each page has a blank back so you can use markers. I honestly liked the look of the back of the pages once complete because you could see it without the lines and numbers.The pages are perforated to take out if desired.I recommend beginning with your lightest color (the circles numbered 5) so that if any mistakes are made, they are easier to color over with the next darkest color.Happy coloring!

One day, in the not doing distant past, I found a Querkles coloring book. It appealed to my sense of balance by being drawn in circles, which,as you know, has no beginning or end. My beloved husband watched me color away, night after night, to the exclusion of all else, and ordered me the Querkles: Animals. I now have all 4 books, and am nearing the end of the Querkles run. I’m very sad about this, and wish there were more books…Now I just have to figure out what do do with 80 colored pages 😳The picture is from my last book, and that’s the double sized page. Rack book has an extra large page 😊

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books..do wish they had more books available with less animals and people and more scenery or landmarsk would be nice.i love that these allow me to turn my mind off due to you choose just 5 colors..after that its just looking for the number and coloring...very meditative for me. they are a bit complex and small which i also like..i love not having any idea of that it is i am "coloring" until the picture reveals its self enough ...)you can look at the back to see if you would rather know) i love seeing what crazy colors i choose come together in a finished work. these do take a good amount of time as well due to the size and amount of small spaces to fill inji do love the quality of paper and size is large...great books just need more with subject matter!
