3M Scotch-Brite Scuff Pads (3M 07445/07447/07448 (5 Pads of Each))

These are great for anything you would use steel wool for, they don't degrade nearly as much as steel wool, and they won't rust.The coarser grits are great for cleaning and brightening tarnished metal surfaces and tools, and the finer grades are outstanding for applying and burnishing wood finishes. I always keep a small piece of the white pad in my can of paste wax.The red pads are the coarsest and are equivalent to #1 steel wool. The gray pads are equivalent to #00 steel wool, and the white pads are equivalent to #0000 steel wool.I tend to avoid the red pads unless I need to remove heavy rust or paint, because it takes a lot of work with the gray and white pads to get rid of the scratches. Sometimes it's better to start with a gray pad and spend a little bit more time than to start with a red one and then need to use the gray pads afterwards anyway.

I'm restoring an aluminum bike that has some corrosion on the frame. I read to use Scotch Brite pads to remove corrosion along with some corrosion inhibitor and so far it's been working well. If I'm careful I can almost duplicate the original brushed finish of the aluminum with these pads.

Polishes up guitar frets beautifully with no worry of shedding steel-wool and mucking up your pickups. Way more bang for the buck than the overpriced three pieces from some places I shan't name that begin with Stew and end with Mac. Plus, more than enough left over to make my sheet pans look brand spankin' new too!

Purchased for scuffing backs of guitar necks. Works Perfect! Much faster and easier than sandpaper.

Worked as described. Assortment was what I needed from coarse to finer. Enough pads to tackle almost any project.

I don't know how I ever used wax before these. Great for cast iron tables, wood handles, c clamps. Scrubs out the rust
