Great cable disc brakes
I love the Avid BB7s. This is my second set - the first came with the bike they're still on, and I liked them so much I got a second set for my other bike. The ability to adjust both pad depths independently makes the routine maintenance SO much more convenient, as the pads inevitably wear unevenly sometimes.I don't have extensive experience with alternatives (except a set of hydraulic brakes on one bike, which are quite different) to compare the action to anything except the very cheap set this replaced (which I REALLY had to squeeze hard - they are much better than that, though don't remember the model), but it works fine for me on terrain of mostly small hills and occasional steep hills. Both sets have lasted years at this point, with occasional cleaning.

2 adjustable pads makes this a winner!
I had older Avid brakes on a Fat Tire Rambo eBike used frequently offroad. Fat Tire eBikes are heavy already and then you add in the weight of a rider going downhill, so the demands on the brakes are much higher and need frequent adjustment for optimal braking power. I decide the upgrade my brakes because you can easily adjust both the inner and outer pads with the BB7’s. Had them on my bike for several months and hundreds of miles and I’m far more confident in my braking power. I was fortunate that I didn’t need to buy another disc brake mounting adapter, so installation took 15 mins and was super easy. Use YouTube videos, if necessary, but make sure to bed your brakes. Great product and it wasn’t an expensive upgrade.

best mtb cable disc brake available
I own several sets of these brakes. The oldest set has many miles of heavy use at this point. These brakes are reliable and long lasting. Braking force sufficient for most uses. They cost a bit more, but they are much superior, and safer, than the various brand X cabledisc brakes on sale here. I have also used brand X, and have had several dangerous failures. If you enjoy careening down steep hills with only one functioning brake - buy brand X.If not - buy a set of Avid BB7.

great brakes
Nice and solid, I would buy these again . The only problem I had was the brakes stopped working due to all the salt , water , snow and dirt that it accumulated one year of Riding in Chicago in the winter. The brakes locked up and I couldn't take it apart to install the new brake pads. I had to toss it in the garbage . Good brakes anyways.

BBW? nah, BB7. Good cable operated brakes
I put this on an old frame with a new fork, allowed me to use an old dynamo wheel. Everything fit like it should have, these brakes are easy to set up and work well for a long time. You do have to adjust the pads every now and again. Will buy again.

Decent, solid mechanical brakes worth of trail
I've been riding these brakes on my moutain bike navigating the hills, mountains, and trails and these brakes have solid stopping power. They were fairly easy to install having done my research prior and obtaining the correct brackets. My one complaint is: I dont like how the lever mechanism is a little jangly. No amount of force can pop it off, and the brakes have survived some crazy moments, so Im not concerned, just nit picky.

Quality Product but it may need some adaptation for certain Trek Bikes replacing Zoom Brakes
I replaced the front disc brakes on my Trek 3500 about a year ago with the full brake kit, no issues and a great product. For this order I just ordered the caliper for the back and needed to reuse part of the Zoom brake OEM mounting bracket since a new one for the frame was not included in my order and the 2 extra brackets would not adapt. Long story short, things went together well but the 'pull tab' on outside of the caliper stuck out so far it would not allow the caliper to properly close and open once installed. I cut the pull tab off (with a dremel cutoff wheel but i am sure there are other options) which did not affect the pad at all and the rest of the installation was seamless. Very happy with this product including a great price, just needed a little patience to install. Test ride down the mountain was successful LOL.

High quality, powerful, adjustable
I’ve been using these for years on my commuter bike. They were easy enough to install and work great. Superb stopping power, although I am not a large person. They are really easy to adjust using the knob on one side or using a torx key on the other side. So you can do a no-tool adjustment while in the road. Great value, would recommend.
