Q: Do these boxes ship flat or do they come constructed?

The ship flat, but are easily assembled (about 30 seconds per box).

Q: What's the thickness of the cardboard? Is it waterproof?

Its approx. 1/4" not sure what you mean waterproof, f it can take some light rain, probably yes.

Q: What's the paper thickness?

not sure the exact thickness, its about 1/4" and very sturdy

Q: How do these boxes open? We need this for a live raffle event where we would have to open part of the box quickly and be able to pull out a ticket.

It opens at the top where the slit is for the tickets. I too used for a live raffle. I shook the box, opened it at the top and pulled out tickets. Loved the boxes and they look great on the tables. I made pictures with descriptions and glued them to the top and sides. I bought them in red for a holiday party. Very very nice boxes. Highly recommend!
