I am reading the Kindle version of this book. So far it is a fantastic read, very easy to digest and well written. Sadly I know how this one ends.

This book was for a present. It arrived quickly, perfectly, good price and very much appreciated by the recipient. Very pleased with everything.

We visited Budapest recently and wanted to know more about the history of this country. I bought this book but, contrary to the title, it's a long and heavy read, and the typeface is small. There is real scholarship here, but to get a proper historical perspective of Hungary from this book, you'll need a good reading light and a serious amount of time.

The information in this book is probably good but it is very difficult to be sure because the translatrion is so poor. Sentences are not always linked to each other which leads to a vague sense of bafflement. It is extraordinary that Cambridge University Press has published what appears to be a literal translation without bothering to give that literal translation to someone capable of putting the whole thing in idiomatic English.
