Old standard.
As good as always. Rarely misfires.I always bait with peanut butter. Though the pedal is supposed to be scented, I go for the real thing.

Pretty much like the olden days
I cannot complain about these traps. But look to make sure the staples are in there solidly and tap them with a tack hammer if they are not tight. Hard to believe we have to pay this price until I recall that in the 1960s I would pay 10-15 cents for a basic McDonalds hamburger, and now it's above $1.00. So factor in the passage of time. Consider I was paying 29 cents per gallon before state and local taxes set in, and we need to finance interstate highway repairs via the gas taxes, and now I'm paying closer to $3.00 in my state, including taxes. Do you get the picture? Compare today's prices in relation to what we paid back in 1970. There is a 10-fold multiplier, not due to any recent economic circumstances or price gouging. It's an inevitable consequence of increased distribution of wealth to more families, driving up demand, and it follows that prices go up as well, not to mention the much-needed increases in day to day pay for the people in charge of making and selling what my grandfather formerly made by his own hand.

Still the Best Mouse Trap
I have been using these traps for the past 5 years, during which I have trapped about 250 field mice along the walls of my house! Mice were previously getting into my house in gaps where my outside walls met.I took care of these gaps by pushing course steel wool in the gaps. My mouse count is now down to almost zero after my persistent trapping. I don't reuse my traps, but put the trap and mouse in a baggie and then into the trash. I have used other types of traps over the years (mouse houses, sticky tape, etc.), but I have found this vintage trap to still be the best and least costly. The price point is especially good if you have a lot of mice like I have. Yes, it takes a little bit of skill to carefully position the copper wire bar under the yellow plastic plate. Fortunately, I have never gotten pinched by the trap going off in my hand. In short, why spend more money for fancier traps when this vintage trap is still the best? Finally, I have found the best bait is peanut butter placed on the plate. Mice can't resist it.

Okay, but has hair trigger
I've probably used hundreds of mouse traps in my lifetime. This mouse trap basically works okay, the spring is very strong and will kill a mouse quickly and efficiently (killed two the first night). My only complaint is with the bar goes over the spring bar and slides under the yellow bait holder. It barely stays under the yellow bait holder and slides out way too easily than others I've used in the past. At least half of the time I had trouble making the bar stay under the bait tray. Several times it went off in my hand or when I very gently set it down on the ground. Maybe if the bar or bait tray was tweaked a bit to have slightly more of an angle it would hold better - yet still go off when a mouse triggers it.iEdit: After trying many times to set additional traps I have to change my rating. I’ve found that most of the mouse traps are just too difficult and sensitive to set. They go off in my hand before I can even set it on the ground which is very unnerving. I’m going to have to order a different type that I can actually set.

These traps work.
First, I bought the old style Victor traps. All they did was feed our mice.Peanut butter gone; trap still set. Then I bought these (saved myself yet another trip to Big Box). And they, on the other hand, work. Fairly easy to set. Re-use it if you want to. Catch another Mickey.Your wife will be pleased.

This is a better mousetrap!
We get mice every year and I am the designated hunter. I was an ardent admirer of the traditional Victor trap but recent events have swayed to this version. Usually if a mouse tripped a trap, I would throw it away. The variations in sensitivity of the traditional trap are significant. After switching to this version, I throw away far fewer tripped traps.

Most don't latch
Half of the mouse traps i recieved don't latch. It seems like the bar is too short. I've never had such a problem in my life. I had to throw over half of them in the garbage. If I lift the cheese up some then it'll latch, tried that.. what happened was my bait was stolen off all of them and nothing on the trap. If it was a few traps it'd be one thing.. but having to throw over half away due to the arm bar being too short.. big waste of money. I won't be buying from this seller again. I don't even think the ones I got were authentic to begin with. Do yourself a favor and go with tomcat if you wanna catch anything. Atleast that's what I'm doing.
