no. This has an AUTO RETRACTING BLADE. which is the SAFETY feature. You can use it quiet well with practice. You/I can, strip wire with it both removing lengths of insulation and for soldering connections. For cutting cardboard I using nothing else. It is prefect for people who don't know how to use a knife or box cutter.
