Big things come in small packages.
This reel is among the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’ve used it for a full year at this point paired with a Tsunami slow pitch and it has taken my jigging game to the next level; absolutely dominated doormat fluke, stripers, blues, and even a cownose ray. I am in the process of buying another Maxell (going with the HY20-BG) to pair with my Trevala for the upcoming season. I would recommend this reel to anyone who is serious about investing in a quality reel that is proven to perform...also gets a ton of compliments

Smaller than expected. Great nonetheless
Its great little reel. And by little its really small. Smaller than i expected. Great match for a trevala S size rod! Really recommended. Only issue is theres this sharp piece on the left side of the reel, that kind of stabs you every now and then. Mayb its just mines. I had to grind it down to make it comfortable. No other complaints.

Bad quality control
This 2nd reel comes with exactly the same issues of the 1st one I ordered. The thumb bar release lever was very loose, like it was about to fall apart. Star drag knob was tight to turn...Definitely issue with quality control...Never had issue with other Maxel models

Pretty good dropper
Not the greatest caster, but reels up fast and strong. Very smooth reeling. You do have to keep an eye on the spool to make sure the line spools up level. And if attempting to cast rather then just drop straight down the line can snag on a little indent on reel side next to spool. Wish that little line snagging spot wasn't there since I sometimes like to wing it out
