Welch Allyn Replacement (Non-OEM) NiCad Rechargeable Battery ea- #72200

Replaced a battery in my used otoscope that "expired 1992" and it took right off without an issue.

Three cheers to Welch Allen!I bought an otoscope/ophthalmoscope kit to use for physical diagnosis back when I was in medical school in the early 80's. It really hasn't seen much use since then as I never needed to carry one around in my pocket and we use slightly different models in the office, as does the hospital.Well, it's time for it to be used again. Of course the battery would not take a charge. I was thinking I'd have to buy a new kit. To my wonderment, Welch Allen still uses and sells the same battery. No planned obsolescence as with most items these days. Kudos!The battery arrived in two days. takes and holds a charge, and the kit works as it should. And I'm a happy buyer.

As practicing medical provider the otoscope/ophthalmoscope tools are an integral part of patient care. Unfortunately, this battery was not what I expected it to be. It performed like a champ for about a week, then progressively got weaker over a one plus month period. It has failed to retain power after attempting to charge it several times. So, I have no choice but to give this battery a low rating. I feel like I waisted my money.

I’m a retired physician but still have my ophthalmoscope. I use the scope to site down firearm barrels when cleaning….oh and occasional EENT stuff…

This was a replacement for a 20 yo otoscope and it works great so far. It seems to hold a charge decently, although it is on the pricey side it should last for years. Good buy. Btw this is a genuine replacement battery, not a knock off so you do not have to worry about it exploding or leaking and ruining your instrument.

The batteries aren't the same as pictures
