Money well spent for healthy, younger looking hands.
I am a person who, because of allergies and sensitive skin, has not used many cosmetics or skin care regimens for several decades. Instead, I have been limited to avoidance of pollutants and radiation, eating healthy foods and getting enough sleep and exercise. A couple months ago, I heard an interview with Dr. Youn on the radio and decided to purchase the book. Here is what happened. I selected skin care products in my price range to experiment with Retinol at night, antioxidants under a zinc oxide sun block during the day, and Vitamin B3/Matrixyl/hyaluronic acid/ceramides at will. The selections were based upon learning concepts in the book so I could try Dr. Youn's recommendations or make educated choices in the market place. I used the products on my face, neck and hands. After about a week, my face and neck became irritated and I was able to determine that the problem was just a touch of glycolic acid in the Retinol cream. I switched to a Retinol/hyaluronic acid formulation and the irritation was greatly diminished. After about five weeks, my face and neck looked hydrated and healthier, which was nice. The surprise was my hands. They looked less bony, plumper and more even in coloration. YES!The icing on the cake was when a relative of mine was having problems with skin tears on one hand. We tried the following: At night I would place a small amount of Retinol/glycolic acid cream on the back of his hands. In the morning, I would apply an antioxidant serum over the backs of both of this person's freshly washed hands. The skin tear was healing faster than usual which pleased my relative. A few days later, he went to his dermatologist on another matter and his doctor asked him about his skin tear. When the doctor found out this intervention was helpful, he told my relative to "keep on doing it".

Good source of information about skin product for sensitive skin.
I saw the author of The Age Fix on PBS and decided to order his book. I have sensitive skin and had no idea what skin products would work on my face without wasting a lot of money through trial and error. The book is easy to read and has a lot of information about skin and your health. The most helpful section for me was the chapter containing the names of actual products for different skin types. Also, which products to use in the morning and at night. I bought those for my skin type and now use them. If you read a lot of books on healthy living, you will probably skip some sections included in this book.

Great Honest Information
The author goes into great detail on the how and why our skin shows age and how to help maintain good healthy skin. I love that he provides alternatives to the expensive cremes andteaches what ingredients to look for, shows how to DIY if you want. Excellent must buy book.

nothing revolutionary is revealed in this book.
the tone of the book is very conversational, which makes it accessible and a welcome surprise having been written by a doctor. the book outlines diets, meal plans, over the counter topical treatments as well as prescription grade products, and surgical options for your beauty concerns. there's even a section on how to use makeup to enhance your features as well as a bunch of DIY pantry-raid recipes for homespun beauty. it's not that i disagree with anything that was said in this book---it is chock full of sensible, time-proven advice---it's more that nothing revolutionary or new is to be gleaned from reading this.

Wonderful Book
When I was a little girl (long ago) I read my grandmother's ladies magazines beauty sections. Just like today there were make at home recipes along with new products and advice. I grew up on a farm with fresh produce and so I had cucumbers, tomatoes, oatmeal, strawberries and much more to experiment with. This book is so awesome. Even though it is a few years behind, there hasn't been too much progress made since this book came out. I agree that retinol is a must because I began using it as soon as it was available along with my homemade apple cider vinegar toner and I have no lines around my eyes. I cannot recommend this book high enough for its good honest advice because dark spots are HARD to remove!

Instant buyer's remorse
I got caught up in the excitement of an infomercial and bought the book. Regretted it the moment it arrived. I thought it would at least have a "Buy This, Not That" section for recommended products that work well at drugstore prices. There is no such section, though he does name a few products that can be found at Target or CVS at reasonable prices. His "home remedies" may be effective, but WHO HAS HALF AN HOUR EVERY DAY to sit with a banana mash on one's face? All of his beauty treatments made of groceries are the same, and I have no doubt they have their efficacy, but again, who has time? He slips in plenty of plugs for cosmetic surgery and injections. I am ashamed to have this in my house. Will donate to the local library.
