Lasted 9 Years 🦉
I looked up on the roof most recently and saw the head was missing so I re-ordered. Our last order said 2016! Wow, that’s a long time. Nine years in the Arizona very hot sun and heat. When we took it down it was dry rotted, and very brittle. Understandable after that long considering the weather conditions, it went through many high winds and summer dust storms. We filled it with sand and rocks, so it will not blow over. Hoping to get the same amount of time out of the new one!🌞

OWL’S HEAD has TURNING & BALANCING issues.
The Owl’s head almost never faces forward and there’s no way to make adjustments to correct head tilt issues. I guess I could try using glue and lead weights to balance wobble but I don’t know how to make owl face forward. I guess I could glue head to body and forget balancing issues. Back it goes to China.

Missing plug and poorly packaged
Overall was exactly what I was looking for to discourage our neighborhood Red-shouldered Hawk from tormenting our chickens. Giving it three stars because the bottom plug was missing and packaging was very poor. My need for placing a deterrent near our coop outweighed the process of exchanging the owl for another.

No more Birds of prey here!
The media could not be loaded. We had tried about 10 different owls when we lived on the farm in PA and this was perfect for keeping my chickens and ducks safe. They were my babies so protecting them was very important. Especially Sundance who had very bad arthritis in her leg and was very slow. We would watch the perguine falcons and the red tailed hawks just divert paths the moment they saw this guy. So moving to FL and watching the osprey and red tailed hawks eating my squirrels who come for a feed and the birds was just awful. So back to Amazon for another. Worked well again. Watching them coming this way but they keep their distance. They don't want a confrontation with a large full sized owl which this is. I see them way of in the distance but not one has come anywhere near for the 4 days I have had this guy out there. We have an osprey next on the next block so there is a family right here. I move him around and make sure I get a position in the open but where there is a breeze so the head moves. Without the head moving its no where near as good. I suggest you put him out and tap the head so he moves. Hopefully you will get some breeze. But once they spot him with his head moving is game over. I doubt they will come back. Just move him around. That's very important. Hope this helps you all.

This little guy works better than I expected
I paired this owl with a dead crow decoy and the results were better than I dreamed. I had a pair of ravens who had taken over my yard. They fouled up my fountain, sat on my satellite dish continually and left droppings and animal parts everywhere! I put "Hootie" out on the patio, and the crow decoy just under him, and the next morning, the ravens were gone. They carried on for about an hour, circling and making a huge racket, but then they left and haven't been back. It's been about 3 weeks now. I brought the crow inside after 2 nights but have left Hootie out. I move him around every other night, which is very important. When I saw some crows haunting the area a few days later, I put the crow decoy back under him and it again worked like a charm. I swear by this combination. My house has been so quiet and poop free for 3 weeks and I'm loving it. Very happy with this purchase.

Cheap and broken
This owl is crap. Shipped in a bag and the head was broken. Returned and got a refund so I appreciated that which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1.
