Excellent quality
While sometimes they may be a little difficult to build, games workshop makes excellent miniatures. The quality and detail are fantastic.

Good for Salamanders
I don't know how it would work in DW but this is perfect for a salamander army.

A general Space Marine box set. Just ok for Deathwatch.
It’s an ok starting place for Deathwatch but there are a lot better kits than this. The Dark Angels Combat Patrol, Blood Angels Combat Patrol, and The Start Collecting: Vanguard Space Marines box sets are better. What comes in the box: 1x Primaris Apothecary (great unit), 1x Primaris Lieutenant (bad unit for Deathwatch, especially this wargear variant), 10x Primaris Intercessors (backbone of any Space Marine army, base requirement of 5 for making a Fortis Killteam), Primaris Aggressors (decent elite choice but not an auto include or even essential), and 2 Deathwatch Upgrade Frames (essential Deathwatch buy) for the iconic Deathwatch left shoulder pads.If you are looking to start Deathwatch, it’s ok but I wouldn’t glue the right shoulder pads on until you do some research into the chapter specific right shoulder pads. The only way to get the correct facing right shoulder pads is to get them in the Deathwatch Veterans kit or get the primaris upgrade frames. Recommended primaris chapter upgrade frames include: Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, White Scars, Imperial Fists, and Iron Hands. Do not get the Raven Guard, Space Wolves, or Salamanders upgrade sprues as the head on the shoulder is facing the wrong way for Deathwatch. For Gravis and Terminator chapter specific right shoulder pads, the easiest way is to use the above recommend decals or buy 3rd party custom shoulder pads or icons. Is Deathwatch a beginner friendly army? No. It’s an army meant for veteran Warhammer 40K hobbiers and players. The Deathwatch Box set however I would rate as an ok start to any new Space Marine army but not specifically Deathwatch.
