Even though it may seem as if the capsules are hard to swallow they are not.
This product was recommended to me by my orthopedic doctor because of my bone condition. I have been taking it for about a year and a half and we are getting good results!

1000mg dose requires 4 large capsules
This product is pretty well-reviewed by several health publications and is one of the more bio-available forms of calcium on the market. It’s also supposed to be gentler on the stomach than calcium carbonate. The one major drawback to this product to me is the size. Each capsule is very large (the largest out of my vitamin routine by far) & the 1000mg dose requires you to take FOUR of the giant capsules. I guess if you really wanted to you could probably empty the capsules out into a smoothie or something but it’s a lot to swallow.

Deceptive labeling: says Calcium Citrate but does not contain all calcium citrate
Deceptive labeling! The front label clearly states “Calcium Citrate” “1000 mg per serving”. This is what I wanted, good. Except when you look at the “contents” on the back, in fine print label says “up to 85% calcium citrate”, the rest is calcium carbonate. What’s up with that?1) What’s does “up to” actually mean? 50%? 10%? Only the manufacturer knows and they won’t say.2) The front label clearly states that Solray is selling “Calcium Citrate” “1000mg per serving”This is blatantly a money saving move on the part of the manufacturer. I’m not using Solray products again. This label is at best deceptive and I would guess was not legal until the recent gutting of the FDA.

Vitamins tasted moldy & musty...gross!
Update: The company addressed my concern, offered a resolution & made it right. Therefore, I am upgrading my review from 1 to 3 stars for the customer service. The vitamin capsules smelled & tasted moldy & musty. The company tried to blame it on the "flow agent" ingredient, magnesium sterate. Research indicates that magnesium sterate does not cause a vitamin to smell & taste bad. The vitamins are nauseating & I am unable to take them. They will be discarded & I am out the $$$ I paid for them. I expected more from Solaray and am very disappointed. I will not be purchasing from this company again.
