Romans: Grace, Truth, and Redemption (MacArthur Bible Studies)

In depth studyEach chapter of Romans is printed in the book and explained, along with definitions of many of the phrases/terms. At the end of each chapter,there are in-depth questions. The questions had me going back into the text and getting a deeper understanding.I like this because the scripture, definitions and questions are all in one book. Then I can write notes and highlight terms, which I would not do in my actual Bible. It’s nice to have it all in one book, to share and discuss with others doing the same study.Planning to do his book on Isaiah next!

I think of Romans like the tallest rock on the mountain that is the Bible. The other rocks are equally important, but Romans is so obvious and laid out bare for all to see. The truth made plain and still it blows your mind.How can God love such a wretched woman like me? Because Jesus paid the debt of my sin with His perfect life, and 3 days later, He rose from the dead.“‘O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?’ The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭55‬-‭57‬He appeared to thousands of eye witnesses, four of their accounts are recorded in the gospels. Those gospels were preserved in the Dead Sea Scrolls—the Bible is as true today as the day it was written. Matt 24:35Only one of 12 disciples was not put to death for his faith. Why? Why be murdered for saying a dead guy is alive? Unless He was alive, and IS alive, and is interceding now for His children at the right hand of the Father.We can be loved by God because we’re covered by the righteousness of Christ. “Righteousness comes by God's grace alone, and faith in Christ alone brings redemption.” Turn from your sin. Repent. Accept the free gift. It is free to you, but it wasn’t free for Him. You have been bought with a price. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is God.

I recently this past summer got back into my faith. I joined a local church and joined a Bible study for Romans. This book was a requirement and I’m so thankful that I found it. As a newish Christian this has helped me actually get into the Bible for the first time. I will say that some other questions are a bit confusing if you are practically brand new to your faith. But talking about it with my Bible study group has been great.

This Author, John MacArthur, really gives the reader a very through study of the Book 📖 of Romans. It is 5 ⭐️. He gives a historical perspective and background, a Bibical chapter is printed as to the particular Chater that’s to be studied with footnotes on the side of the page to further your understanding of what is being printed to further your overall understanding of the verse you are studying. A section to “ Go Deeper” section to help you compare or to better understand the Chapter is also in the study, followed by thought providing questions on the texted studied. John MacArthur’s Studies of the Books of the Bible are my favorite for he does an excellent job of helping the reader learn about the books of the Bible. I highly recommend this author's works.

This is for you if you don’t want to read a bunch of life experiences by middle-aged women who think they’re experts on the Bible. I watch John MacArthur on YouTube and he is a wise and noble pastor. my friend and I are doing this book and we really enjoy it!!

John is an excellent teacher but in my humble opinion this was geared more for someone considering attending seminary school, too difficult to follow.

John MacArthur is an insightful Bible scholar and teacher. This book did not disappoint. It is helpful in delving into the Book of Romans and understanding what the Holy Spirit is leading me to understand. It makes you think and discover for yourself, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
