does the job!!
its works as it supposed to.plastic quality feels not to strong or durable but will see how the Arizona heat will treat them.Great customer service, I called the support number and received the call right away from their support, to clarify the question.its little pricy but I couldn't find any other option. the local company was asking $199 to install on one door and I was able to DIY for little over 100bucks on two door to satisfy the rental requirements. It look simple to install just few wholes and screws but in my case, my glass sliding door did not have enough space for it to fit properly without hitting the glass, and the locking pin keeps on rubbing against the glass edge, so had to make a lot of adjustments. secondly when the door closes the edge of the door fram was hitting it and so pushing it back and no matter what I do the closing pin keep on rubbing agains the glass make the latch not moving by itself because of the pressure and friction. so i have to go outside the box, had to put some packing inside the door frame so the door would stop couple of mm back and to avoid pressing the latch back. hope it make sense, I will be happy to answer any questions

Well made, easy to use
We installed this on a pocket door. It is so handy being able to open both sides. We leave it latched and just turn the knob a little bit to unhook then let it stay engaged. It then springs up and latches again when we close. One thing, the installation is specific about hole sizes but... I recommend using the 3/8 bit for all 3 holes. If you're not perfect in your drilling and the screw holes are not perfectly aligned, it won't freely work. Make the holes bigger to allow adjustment in installation, and the two pieces cover the holes fine.

Not great for pool safety
!!Do not purchase this for pool safety!!Got this to replace an existing broken latch that I could not find a replacement for. Issue with this product is when you open the latch it's super easy to lock it back into an always open position (a feature) and then you need push the release button to engage the self-locking feature again. Since this is for pool safety and it's so easy to leave the latch in the unlocked position this is not a feature, its poor design and a liability.Scenario One: the child pulls up a chair and unlocks the latch into the unlocked position, they are now able to open the door. Kids are smart and can see how you operate the latch.Scenario Two: Someone in the house or a guest not realizing locks it back when opening the door and fails to disengage lock back feature. Then the child can open the door.I can't see where this product can actually come in handy. But if you're not looking for pool safety it does work with a little bit of drilling and sweat. I've already purchased another lock without this feature to replace it ASAP.

Exactly what I needed
The replacement sliding screen door I got wouldn’t latch. My dogs and cats soon discovered they could easily sliding the door open. This latch was exactly what I was looking for to keep my pets inside and be able to unlatch when I wanted to come in.I had to move the latch back a little more to give the knob more clearance so I could close the screen all the way.My only complaint is the latch gets stuck when it’s straight up. My solution was to jam something in the slot to prevent the hook from being able to get stuck.

To avoid binding, the holes in your door may need to be a bit larger than instructed.
Having now installed two of these, it's clear why some reviewers thought they needed to loosen the mounting screws to stop the latch arm from binding, only to have the unit wiggle. For the latch to operate smoothly, the two mounting drill holes and the center hole all need to be exactly parallel to each other and perpendicular to the door or else the center shaft will bind. But this is almost impossible to get exactly right three times by eye. Happily, the design of these latches is forgiving if your center hole is 1/2" instead of 3/8" and if the mounting holes are distorted a bit when the mounting screws emerge pointing a little up, down or sideways. Do that and you can then tighten the unit snugly and the arm will move freely.Another tip: at least one reviewer said that a city inspector rejected the latch on a door leading to a pool because it can be easily disabled by continuing to turn turn the key after it unlatches until you hear a click. You can disable that disabling function by inserting a short screw that is a little wider than the groove that the latch travels, at a point that the screw stops the latch from moving to the end of the groove.

This unit is very much overpriced
I needed a way to prevent the grandkids from unlocking and opening the sliding glass door going to our yard.I saw this and put the order in-delivery day was out quite a ways but I wanted it rather than make my own. When it came in today, I was looking for the $61 in value and did not see it in a little plastic piece that the kids will be able to break once they can walk a little better. However, we need the additional security now but will model my metal unit based on the way this works.Yes it came with spacers that may be needed, along with 4 extra screws to cover differing thickness in doors and one template along with a single instruction sheet of paper.Yes, the lock sorta works but again, it is all plastic excepting the latch in the wall and the lock that interacts with it.The Best.Hope this helps others.

Keeps our Golden Retrievers from sliding our screen door open
Solved a 5 year old problem of keeping our two golden retrievers from opening the sliding screen door on our French patio doors. If we locked the screen from the inside, someone in the back yard could not get back in the house. If I went out with the dogs, I couldn’t lock the sliding screen door behind me. With the NEW lock, we can open a locked sliding screen door from the outside as well as the inside of our family room. The golden retrievers are NOT happy now as they can no longer let themselves in and out any time they want to!
