Very interesting.
If you like ancient history this is a good read. The Peloponnesian War began after the Greco- Persian conflicts came to an end. Even though Athens and Sparta had fought side by side though that time they split into two separate centers of power which were diametrically opposed in their basic outlook, fighting styles and reasons for fighting such a protracted war later. Each side had several city- states vying for power. It was Sparta and several cities vs. basically the newly evolved Athenian Empire. It was not just a boring set of facts. I enjoyed reading it.

Very Very informative!!!
In the past I have this name when reading about Greek history . But, had not studied this in high school or college. So, it was all new knowledge to me . Saw thst the name referred to a mountain range. This would provide a reason for Greece not to be all into one kingdom. Tensions between Sparta & Athens seemed to always ongoing. Athens’ itself enjoyed some prestige when it best back the Persian invasion. Greek culture continues til today in the world .Super book by Captivating History!

Helpful
I had briefly learned about the Peloponnesian War when I took a history class in college that focused on this early Greek civilization. This book went into so much more detail about the causes of the war, more than my class did in college. While there were a lot of details in this book that would make this book slow reading, I actually found them helpful.

A very good speedy read and easy understanding of a very sophisticated issue like the Peloponnesian war. Excellent for beginners!
