This stuff was recommended by my grandma as she used this as a kid. I had never heard of it but figured we would try. It has worked grwT at cleaning cuts. It does dye the area temporary pink/red but you can at least see where you got it and know it’s clean. We will keep this as a staple in the first aid.

I see people writing reviews thinking it is the same product as years ago. It used to be thimersol (Mercury) it would turned wounds orange and very painful. It is NOW the same stuff they put in wipes for skin cleaning you use before a urine sample. Just so everyone is aware, it may work fine, but it is not the same thing. Never understand why they can keep the same name on an entirely new product. Do research for yourself, just be aware! I think it’s less harmful and probably a great product but just be aware.

Combine equal parts of glycerin and merthiolate and gargle to rid yourself of a sore throat! Old fashionedcure.

Merthiolate has literally saved my life. As a serving soldier in some far-flung places I can vouch for the fact that despite the burn, this is the product that stops infection and vastly hastens healing. Bite the bullet, pour it on, and relief and wound improvement are almost immediate. Never mind me screaming Sheila, in ten minutes we'll go down to the local for a beer... :-)
