Works Well
I like this cable because it is the right length and it works well to attach an external hard drive to my new laptop. My laptop has a large internal SSD but I wanted to be able to create a portable backup so I needed a cable to attach my 1 TB external drive. The cable worked fine transferring data as fast at the drive could handle it and the fittings were nice and secure. I would recommend this cable because it has good quality and it's a great value. I also use it to connect my portable DVD-R to burn DVDS and it works well.

Great cable. Not too sure about speed
It does have a indicator light. Very dim. My old same cable has a much brighter indicator light. Both cables have usb 3.1 markings on cable. As for speed with a Samsung QVO sata3 drive (6 Gbps) with XboxX and this usb cable I only get 2.5-3.0 Gbps (write/read to/from SSD drive). However I just discovered apparently XboxX IO speed is 2.4 Gbps raw. So again cheap components limit performance. Doesn’t matter what you use.If you do PC performance test please note many other variables. Like Antivirus software will significantly slow speed as it checks files. Plus enclosures can have crappy controllers too.Otherwise maybe save a buck and get the old 3.0 cable for less. Probably is the same cable.Hope that info helps.

Great for backing up old drives
I needed a USB-C adapter to back up a bunch of my old drives onto a new NAS. This worked perfectly without any hiccups. Maxed out the drive speed for everything that I used it with (combination of IDE and SATA drives).

Works with raspberry pi
I have several different brands of these, which I use to connect ssd drives to raspberry pi computers. This is the ONLY one that actually works; the others just crash the computer. Even the "official" one does not work, but this one works like a charm. I just wish the cable was a bit shorter.
