Just the right size and design for sourdough starters.
Just the right size for my sourdough starter. The size is perfect and I like the straight, smooth sides for mixing and cleaning. The wooden lids are easy to remove when feeding and seal well. The straight sides make is easier to see how the starter is growing. I wish I had bought these before the other two sourdough crocks I purchased. These are the jars you want for your sourdough starter.

Wick Jars
I was going to send these jars back but I thought about it a couple of days. I'm trying to get away from plastic and this was a good opportunity. I can use them to store so much and they are a good size.

Love
Absolutely love these jars. They are great quality. I have broken two of them, but I dropped them really hard. I have dropped them other times and they did not break. Highly recommended I will be buying more all the time. Two of my friends have bought the same ones and they love them.

Great addition to upping your sourdough starter game.
I heard about these jars back when I first started trying sourdough. I thought that I would wait until I would see if I would even need them. I've always tried to make do with a repurposed jar - after all "just how different could it be" "A jar is a jar, right?" I finally broke down and got a pair of these jars....If you are actively making sourdough on a regular basis - and especially if you are doing multiple loaves at one time, these actually are MUCH nicer to use than a re-purposed jar, or even another brand designed with sourdough newbies in mind. (this is easier to get your hand in)I like the fact the this jar has straight sides - I can easily get all the "goo" out with a straight silicone spatula. If you have ever tried to scrape dried sourdough starter schmutz left after your rise is over out from under a curved rim of a jar, you'll understand. AND.. the mouth is big... bigger than my last jar. you can actually fit your hand in to wash the jar out. I always wash jars after every feed - this is nice to have two and I can just swap out.It might look like it is super big, but that means there is plenty of room for a nice active "starter party" to happen in your jar. I like that the lid has options.... i can just set the glass lid on for on the counter, or add the seal if it's going to go in the fridge for any amount of "down-time."If you are new to doing sourdough, and find that you are enjoying it - take the plunge and get a pair of theses jars. Treat them with respect and they will last you a lifetime.

Perfect, as rumored.
I was reluctant to spend this much for years. I finally treated myself. I’m using for sourdough starter but I could find 50 uses for them.

Beautiful, Functional, and Built to Last
These Weck jars are exactly what I was hoping for—sturdy, stylish, and super practical. I’ve been using them to store overnight oats and homemade yogurt, and the airtight seal really keeps everything fresh. Plus, they just look great in the fridge or on the counter. The glass is thick and high quality, and I love that the lids are reusable with the metal clips and rubber seals—no plastic waste. They’re also easy to clean and dishwasher safe, which is a huge plus for me.Definitely a step up from your average jar. If you’re into food storage that’s eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing, this set is a win.

Very easy to access all of the contents.
You don't need a specially shaped rubber spatula to get at the contents. Also, these are very easy to clean.

Not my ideal sour dough jar
I bought these jars because I heard from a YouTube video that they were good for sour dough starters. And I’m sure other people in over environments these are good for sour dough jars. But for me they aren’t working out. Without the gasket and just the glass lid sitting on top, it isn’t letting enough oxygen in the jar and my sour dough is smelling of acetone. As soon as i left the lid off, fed it, it did much better. So my particular jar, and environment isn’t ideal for just leaving the loose fitting lid on. But the design of the jars are great otherwise.
