BEST 3D CAMERA for the price
My wife and I are members of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and my wife was introduced to 3D photography through a workshop at the PSA annual convention. It turns out that one of the top 3D clubs is near our home so my wife joined. I don't know much about 3D photography but I did some research and ended up buying this camera for my wife for Christmas. Turns out that the experts in her club say this is one of the best 3D cameras available. My wife has taken some amazing pictures with this camera and we can display them on our Smart TV to share with others. Given the low price of this camera and the high quality I think the product deserves the best rating possible.

Great Buy
Very pleased with cost, shipping time and product condition. Everything is in Japanese, but a disc containing the instruction book in English IS included and easy to understand. Camera works great and picture display on the 3DTV is awesome.NOTE: you will need a large memory card (16GB or more) for video. The first card i used was 3GB and it gave me less than 30 minutes of video. There is also the matter of video pausing. An sd card rated less than a class 10 cannot keep up with writing 3d video to the card and as a result, pauses every minute or so to "catch up". Once it is paused, you have to manually start recording again. A Class 10 32GB SD card costs around $20 here on Amazon.I would recommend this product to anyone with a 3DTV. Enjoy!

Good, solid camera. Lots of fun. A few glitches
This took nearly a full MONTH to arrive. No tracking. NO TRACKING FROM THIS SELLER! Manual was in Japanese only. Installation DVD broken. This required fishing around on the net to find the software and manual in English. Seller was.....weird. I simply didn't like them. The camera is quite solid (for a change). Features way more options than I imagined (maybe too many). English manual is quite well written (for a change). Fuji in Japan was quick, helpful, professional (for a change). The battery life is ridiculous. Buy about 4 spares if you plan to use it much -- fortunately the tiny batteries are dirt cheap). Maybe an extra charger if you plan to use it a LOT. Battery can be exhausted in a few minutes. Manual says recharging time is 2 or 3 hours but in my experience a solid four hours. It doesn't SEEM as though the USB will charge the battery. There is supposedly an AC power adapter but I can't find it online. Batteries charge painful slowly with the included charger. I had a lot of trouble finding an SD that the camera would recognize -- follow Fujis recommendations precisely. Camera is slick and slippery as a fish -- it is probably guaranteed to be dropped eventually. Use the wrist strap religiously. Method of turning it on and off is, well, a little obtuse but it works. Battery cover is right next to the tripod mount, so you will need to remove it from the mount in order to swap batteries (a medium PITA since battery life is so incredibly short). Software is rudimentary at best. Use it to import images, then immediately switch to another editor. I didn't realize that you'll only get good stereoscopic pics within a very limited distance range -- say 4 - 9 feet. You can get the stereoscopic effect, theoretically, at any distance, but it takes some fiddling and a little math. I thought 3D videos would be a lot of fun, but it's difficult to find suitable viewers, and I can NOT find a way to display 3D videos on FB. Maybe it can be done; maybe I'm too stupid to figure it out. In general, there are some frustrations with this camera in 3D mode, but nothing too serious. It's a lot (lot) of fun, and one weird thing I've found : It captures 3D images of loved ones that will be actual keepsakes after they're gone, because you feel like you;re right there with them. You can almost touch them. Very nice. Yes, the price is absurd. $199usd might have been fair. I believe 3D will come into its own soon, rather like 360 is doing now. Then prices will fall, image quality will rise, viewing options will grow, etc. But I wasn't willing to wait 2-5 years for those things to happen. This particular model is one of the best on the market, and Fuji says it won't make any more (I suspect because it's a technically difficult product and sales were poor at current price point), so if you want to go true 3D (not 360), this is your best bet in the price range of mere mortals.UPDATE: I've now used this camera fairly extensively and I have the following observations. I have also docked off a star. The ergonomics are just about the worst I've ever seen on any electronics device. The engineer MUST have been on drugs. It's difficult to hold and much easier than a slippery cell phone to drop. It's bordering on ridiculous. Slip on the wrist strap before you even pick it up.They give you a Macro mode -- for what? You cannot take anything even remotely approaching a Macro shot, in or out of Macro mode. Having a Macro mode just wastes your time and increases frustration.Videos are junk. You can pretty-much forget about video mode (which is what I bought it for). Video mode is a write off due to supremely bad quality regardless of settings or technique.Photos -- I find that the range at which you can capture a decent quality photo is narrow. Very narrow. Too narrow. It's suitable for portraits, albeit still at a distance greater than what most people would prefer. There is an optical zoom. Forget about it. It's only 3X, but quality falls off quickly when you use it.I still more or less like the camera, but I have learned that it will not do most of the things I bought it for. It's a toy, a novelty, something to fiddle around with in spare time. Viewing any images or videos is always problematic.Would I buy it again? No.Would I recommend it? No.Am I sorry I bought it? Yes, somewhat, especially at the $700 price point. I said it was worth, maybe, $199. I now amend that -- It's worth $99 tops.BTW, the software is an insult to the intelligence of a rat. Virtually ALL free software options far surpass the capabilities of the FinePix Studio.Too bad. I hoped for much more.

A great way to get started with stereo photography
If you are considering stereo photography, this camera is a great way to learn the basics. As a point-and-shoot stereo camera, it does a lot of the work for you, but it allows you to learn the basics of stereo composition, what does and does not work. Learning with this camera makes it less daunting to shoot stereo with a normal camera or build a stereo rig. Because Fujifilm stopped making the W3 quite a while ago, it's a little hard to find. But it is highly worth getting a NOS or used W3 if you are interested in learning stereo photography.

The best 3D camera around
This camera is not a new model but still it is the best 3D compact camera around. The width between the lenses makes good 3D pictures also easy to capture motion in 3D, like birds flying up from resting. There is also possibility to record 3D movies. I also got very impressed by the built in 3D screen, similar to the one in Nintento 3DS, which makes it easy to show the 3D effect direct in the camera.

The camera arrived sooner than expected and in essentially perfect condition. The relevant software and documentation was readily downloaded. I am using it almost entirely for still images, and it is a great deal better than my old Revere, StereoRealist, and Kodak stereo cameras. I do wish that the images had somewhat greater dynamic range, but juggling with exposure compensation helps quite a lot.

One of the best out there! but...
I would have rated it a 5, except for the following shortcomings:-1) Video is 2x 720p instead of 2x 1080p - single biggest factor for deducting 1 point from the rating2) image file format is MPO and video file format is 3D-AVI - both of which are non-standard and require conversionOtherwise, it remains one of the best consumer 3D cameras ever built. The 3x optical zoom is very useful. Stereo base is generous- leading to caputring 3D effect even in landscapes.
