Product Description Atlantic Records and warner Strategic Marketing are proud to announce a landmark event in music history- the release of the mother lode of Led Zeppelin live recordings: Led Zeppelin DVD, a two-disc set and How The West Was Won, a three CD set. The DVD and CD sets each contain entirely different material, so theres no overlap between the two releases. The DVD includes few performances which were ever filmed during the band's lifetime: London's Royal Albert Hall, five-night run at London's Earl Court, shows at England's Knebworth Festival, and songs from New York's Madison Square Garden. DVD Features include: Excerpts from Danish and French television performance, Austrailian television interviews with Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones, Fan-shot bootleg performance of "Heartbreaker", Behind the scenes footage of Knebwort, and NBC interview with the band from 1970. .com Exclamations of religious awe are in order. Legendary and long sought-after, this live Led Zeppelin collection is nothing less than the rock music equivalent of the Holy Grail. Quite simply, this is what all the fuss was about. Given that they were the biggest band in the world, Zeppelin were notoriously camera-shy in their heyday. Their official filmic legacy until now has been just the fascinating but flawed The Song Remains the Same. While this new set presents some previously unseen footage from the same 1973 Madison Square Garden gigs, its real wonders lie in the earlier (1970) Royal Albert Hall footage and the later Earls Court (1975) and Knebworth (1979) concerts. Everything here looks and sounds new-minted, thanks to painstaking restoration and remastering of both audio and visual sources, a Herculean labor of love on the part of co-producer Dick Carruthers working hand-in-glove with Jimmy Page. Trawling through thousands of yards of previously unseen film and unheard tape recordings--some with missing visuals, some with missing audio--Page and Carruthers have chosen only the best possible footage available. They were also at pains to make the segments segue seamlessly so that the viewer is treated to what feels like a continuous concert--just sample the transition from a grainy Super 8 "Immigrant Song" (Sydney, 1972) to "Black Dog" at MSG. Highlights? It's not hyperbole to say that every powerhouse minute of this collection (some 230 minutes of concert footage plus another hour and a half of extra DVD material) is a rare musical and visual treat. But hearing Page's violin bow work on "Dazed and Confused" in DTS or Dolby 5.1 is an experience not soon forgotten. --Mark Walker

Led Zep DVD ... Zep DEFINES SHOWMANSHIP & PROFESSIONALISM
Picture, if you will, the extra-human, godly ability to wave a magic wand, flash back in time, and fly back to 1969, 1970, 1973, 1975, and 1979. Then, imagine, IF you could, having the MONEY and ability to spend thousands of dollars or pounds, to take the jets overseas, buy hugely expensive AND impossible-to- get front-row-seats, (and the ability to wander the stage during the shows), and watch a fine sampling of some of time's most mysterious concerts. Royal Albert Hall, home of Mozart, Brahms, et.al. Earl's Court, London, Madison Square Garden, and more. THESE ARE STOPS ON THIS TOUR!WELL, readers, THAT is EXACTLY what Atlantic and Warner Brothers have done for EACH OF YOU!! I saw 5 of Zep's live shows, and, regardless of how many times I saw them, I wanted MORE. Every show was different, every show had it's own stars, its own personality. I never saw enough of them.. Always wanted more: Well, HERE IT IS!!While this is not a visual record of the very best audio performances, it does quantify EXACTLY the other important side of Zep: The Fabulous visual stage show you got, whenever Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant got into their psychic hotline dual riffs. Or whenever Pagey and John Bonham, rock's finest percussionist, got into THEIR telepathic rock-beat connection, and hooked onto an extemporaneous, innovative jam. It's all here. Jimmy Page does some fine (not his best, but mighty fine) work here. Robert's voice, as usual, is stratospheric, although the echoplex that marked many of the live shows, is often missing. These are the tunes, the shows, that cost me a load of A's, turning them into low B's or C's, when I spent whole nights driving 200-400-590 miles back to college, and showing up late for pop quizes I was not exactly up to scratch for...The 1st DVD, even though dated, through the end of DVD 2, spans the entire career of the ZEP, from the first month (Danish Radio Show) to the nearly last show, Zep's fine job at the 1979 Knebworth Concert for reading disabled kids. In between is a ton of just plain magic moments. For those of you who weren't around, then, I suggest you dig up tapes of the OTHER contemporary groups' live material (in 1969/70) at that time. Most other (even major groups) live shows were loud, out of tune, raucous garbage. NOT SO, HERE! While not letter perfect, this is some amazing, timeless stuff; WAAAYY ahead of its time...As we said about the How the West Was Won CD's, their best AUDIO material is THERE. However, for those of you wanting to SEE a fabulous VISUAL ROCK SHOW, complete with Page doing his amazing leads while spending 97% of his time step dancing, Irish river dancing, moonwalking, jumping (yes, jumping), playing guitar on a knee, behind his back, or playing guitar leads over his head, and doing anything but watching the neck of his guitar! With Robert Plant showing off his tight jeans, and swagger, Bonham showing everyone how drums are REALLY played; or John Paul Jones, playing a row of synth winds with one hand, strings with his other hand, and bass on his footpedals; THIS is your ticket to a real, real fun time, and top notch musicians/showmen!!Plenty for all to see and hear. Rock and Roll. Metal; Page's Violin Bow seques, other-worldy theremin, exemplary guitar solo work (As in the amazing White Summer/Black Mountainside); kick ...rock, as In My Time of Dying, and an unbeleivably tight Trampled Under Foot, made all the more incredible, because one of Jimmy's E strings breaks 2/3 of the way into the song. Can You Tell? NOPE... These back to back rockers stomp that rock beast into the dust. These guys DEFINE professionalism...Beautiful acoustic sets, with Zep III and IV's best folk work adorn DVD 2. Then, after aforesaid InMyTime.. and Trampled, a triumphant romp through the years, and the hits at Knebworth '79, to top it all off. If you're not a Zep fan, don't bother. There isn't much here that will change your mind. But for those of you who LIKE Led Zeppelin, you will LOVE THESE SHOWS.All in all, an incredible, amazing experience, I will enjoy this DVD set for the rest of my life. And remember times, and events, in clarity, with some of the greatest songs of all times, to go along with them. This is one DVD set every fan of rock and roll needs in the collection. Preferably at the front. Thanks, Atlantic, and Warner, and Jimmy, John, John Paul, and Robert!! Thanks for such great tunes & great memories!!

Phenomenal.....period.
This DVD set is simply amazing. I'm glad they decided to release this concert footage because there isn't anything else out there (except The Song Remains The Same). In their day Led Zeppelin shunned commercialism so there is very limited documentation of them in TV interviews or live concert footage. They felt that in order to truly appreciate the band and it's music, you had to go see them live in concert. These concerts were originally filmed for the band's own personal use and enjoyment. I know it all boils down to money, but Jimmy Page was involved in every aspect of this DVD release (the video was restored and looks sharp and crisp, the music was remastered in stereo and sounds supurb). As a result, they released a superior product. I was too young to see Zeppelin live, so this is the next best thing. When you run this through your TV and stereo system at home, you almost feel as if you are there. The band sounds great live. This is what rock 'n' roll, and Led Zeppelin, is all about. A must own for all fans of Zeppelin. On DVD 1, The Royal Albert Hall concert from 1970 is great. The highlights of the show include John Bonham's 'Moby Dick' and the band's performance of 'What Is And What Should Never Be'. But the real treat on the DVD for me is the Danmarks Radio performance in 1969 that was caught on film. The band cranks out a live, raw, practically spot-on performance. DVD 1- Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1970 (102 min): We're Gonna Grove, I Can't Quit You Baby, Dazed and Confused, White Summer, What Is and What Should Never Be, How Many More Times, Moby Dick, Whole Lotta Love, Communication Breakdown, C'mon Everybody, Something Else, Bring It On Home. DVD 1 Extras - Communication Breakdown video from 1969 (2:24). Danmarks Radio Performance from 1969 (31:24): Communication Breakdown, Dazed And Confused, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, How Many More Times. Supershow from 1969 (7:31): Dazed And Confused. Tous En Scene from 1969 (9:01): Communication Breakdown, Dazed And Confused.DVD 2 is really good and features performances throughout the 1970s. The first video on here is just a montage of photos and different concert video clips for the live version of Immigrant Song (I guess they didn't have decent concert footage for it). The DVD also has concert footage from the 1973 Madison Square Garden show that never made it in the movie documentary "The Song Remains The Same". DVD 2 - Immigrant Song (live) from 1972 (4:03). Madison Square Garden concert from 1973 (23:24): Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop, Since I've Been Loving You, The Ocean. Earls Court concert 1975 (49:00): Going To California, That's The Way, Bron Yr Aur Stomp, In My Time of Dying, Trampled Under Foot, Stairway To Heaven. Knebworth concert 1979 (50:11): Rock And Roll, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Sick Again, Achilles Last Stand, In The Evening, Kashmir, Whole Lotta Love. DVD 2 Extras - 1970 NYC press conference (3:27). Down Under 1972 (5:17): Rock And Roll, Interviews with the band. The Old Grey Whistle Test 1975 (3:47): Robert Plant interview. Promo 1 video 1990 (4:49): Over The Hills And Far Away. Promo 2 video 1990 (4:12): Travelling Riverside Blues. If anyone is new to the band and isn't sure where to start song wise, be sure to check out Amazon's MP3 area for $1 Led Zeppelin song downloads. Start with songs from Zeppelin II like Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love, Living Loving Maid, Ramble On or Thank You. Or songs from Zeppelin IV like Rock N Roll, Black Dog or Stairway To Heaven. And then build from there. Zep 1: Communication Breakdown. Zep III: Immigrant Song. Etc.Here is an interesting site that gives detailed descriptions of Zep songs and the musical influences behind each and why Zep was accused of plagarism and taken to court a number of times, especially on Zeppelin I. Fresh From A Dumpster Near YOU
It's really funny reading reviews on what was truly a terrible band that was much loved by teeny boppers who wouldn't know good playing if it jumped off the stage and bit them in the arse...The ultimate FAKE lousy terrible sloppy know nothing HAIR BAND.Get over it you 70s wanna-be teeny bopper poseurs. Bonham runs out of gas during his own solos. Page can mostly play Barr chords (which take two weeks to master on the gee-tar).Plant can't sing a note. He can simply screech. The bass player is OK, but what do you want? It's just rock bass, nothing hard. This band proved to me that all the grad student Kennedy era college educated guys and gals had all left the scene. Music had devolved to a dumpster diving garage band level. And it was never to come back.Have fun kiddies. This is a tribute to your own narcissistic pathetic loser smelly cheap lousy music. HAIR BAND.HAIR BAND HAIR BAND HAIR BAND.I think I made my point.Face it. Rock and Roll is a primitive, simple minded folk music without any depth. At best it is pleasant songs meant to be sung or danced to. It was not COMPOSED by a person capable of the intricacies or skill necessary to write for the stage or orchestra. It is just at best SIMPLE folk music performed by talented first year players.Even the Beatles were not great players but at least they tried to COMPOSE songs worth singing. This cr*p? Not so much...I hate the narrow minded taste of people that applaud such drivel.100 years from now people (if we haven't killed the planet by then) will look back at this recording and wonder if we had all lost our minds.
