Viva la Revolucion
Fans of Far Cry 4 and 5 -- as well as fans of fast-paced open-world action/adventure games -- will find PLENTY to like in this latest installment in the beloved series. This time the action takes place in the tropical land of Yara -- think Cuba -- where an evil dictator, beautifully played by Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad fame, rules with an iron hand.Your character is the guerilla fighter Dani Rojas -- and I highly recommend that you choose the female avatar, as the actress filling the role is very beautiful and charismatic. This time around, you have "amigos" to back you up -- bloodthirsty critters like Guapo the crocodile, a dachsund without hind legs named Chorizo, Boom Boom the dog, and others. Some excel at stealth, others at carnage.Weapons include a full array of armaments from machine guns and rifles to grenade launchers and pistols. You will also equip yourself with a "Supremo," a backpack with various capabilities, like firing explosive rockets that can take down a helicopter or launching an EMP strike to disable tanks or electronic equipment. In addition to the popular wingsuit and parachute, you also have grapple gear that lets you climb to new heights at properly equipped sites around the island. Then there's the gameplay, which enables you to indulge your preference for stealth or straight-on assault mode.In addition to the main story missions, there are many enjoyable "Yaran Story" adventures, most of which are wacky, almost all of which are enjoyable. In fact, even after beating the main story and taking down the dictator, there is still plenty to do in Yara. After an update last week, I was pleased to encounter a new Yaran Story inspired by the Strange Things TV series.Yes, it seems Yara has a portal to the shadow world also, and Dani must rescue Chorizo from the monsters in this dark realm!Earlier in the game, Danny Trejo appeared in another product-placement Yaran Story touting his taco-making skills. So commercialism encroaches further into the realm of video games, but at least the Trejo and Strange Things missions are fun to play.About the only negative I can cite in this latest Far Cry epic is some confusing UI stuff that makes it hard to change grenade types, for example. I had to find an online walkthrough to show me how to do this, but the game does have a tutorial mode at the main menu that may help players learn the lay of the land. The long and short of it is, this is another great Far Cry game, and now that Amazon is selling it for $25, the purchase is a no-brainer. Highly recommended!

Decent game if you like the Far Cry series
There were no problems with delivery. Everything is new and in the package. After installation, be prepared for an online update (about 40 GB)

It’s a vast game, better than its predecessor, but boring.
It’s as boring as it is vast. Frustrating fall damage. Frustrating firearms damage. I enjoy playing story mode on all these games, and these enemies will still require multiple headshots with .308 rifles to finish. The game designers just dumbed down the damage that enemies deal and the result is silly. The story drags. Despite all that, it lacks the timed arcade/dream sequences that utterly ruined the last game, so that’s nice. A fun waste of time.

Some pros/some cons, but still a fun FC game
I originally got started with the Far Cry by playing the Far Cry Collection that included Far Cry 2, 3 and Blood Dragon on the PS3. That particular collection was a bit of a hit and miss to me as I thought Far Cry 2 has some frustrating game and save quirks and Blood Dragon was a disappointment to me. It was FC3 that hooked me into the series and FC4 and Primal that have truly made me a fan. I have since played 5 and enjoyed as well and I couldn’t resist getting FC 6.FC6 gives you a different setting on an island in the Caribbean that loosely resembles Cuba. The gameplay for the most part is basically the same as what I have come to expect with the last three games in the series. There are elements of the previous FC games here with some small additions and changes, some better/some worse. Some of the same elements from the past are here, such as taking over bases, gaining allies, do various side missions while basically trying to take over the map. There are also elements of crafting, with improving weapons and getting better equipment to wear. Parachuting and climbing with a grapple hook, ala Just Cause, is here as well. I am not sure I like the changes to the weapons loadouts as it tends to get into the weeds, so to speak, with carrying specific ammo and things for certain missions. The graphics are well done with large map with lots of things to see and do. I am currently playing on the PS4 and the graphics are great, I can’t wait to see much better these are on the PS5. There are some great baddies here with some variety, or at least more than previous games. The voice acting is well done, especially for the main characters in the story.Past aiming problems have been fixed, sort of, with allowing you to turn on enemy highlighting, which can be helpful as the aiming reticule and enemies can sometimes blend a bit too easy in the background. Also, finding items to pick up has been made a bit easier as you can turn on that highlight as well. Like the previous games, there are times when it seems that the enemies have an easier time spotting and hitting you than they should and sneaking is not as well done as in other games. With the exception of the loadout stuff, the menus are ok to navigate. There is a bit more variety with the weapons since you can make some additions and changes. If you have played the previous FC games then you will feel comfortable playing this game. Ubisoft sticks with the same formula that has made the series successful. The story, although not unique, is still interesting and held up by the good voice acting. Like all the games of the series, there is some repetitiveness with some of the collecting and side missions that can be annoying and have a been there/done that feel. The soundtrack is well done and gives an appropriate backdrop for the location and story. The open world aspect is fun to play though as you can pretty much go any direction and take on any number of side quests or main missions in any order you want, although some may be more of a challenge without some added perks. The villains as well as the various characters along the way are well acted and have good dialogue. You can use allies like the previous FC.There are some glitches where you can get stuck in the wrong spot and the climbing is sometimes problematic and not as smooth as it should be.I like the game and it is fun, but there are no dramatic shifts or changes in what you have come to expect in the game series. Even though is has that sameness feel, with some things they are slightly better and some worse, it is still an enjoyable game to play and will keep me entertained for a while.4 stars

The best story and open world of the Far Cry series yet, but so many frustrating bugs.
FC6 is a very enjoyable game. Open world is huge and gorgeous at every new venture. The topography of the map is diverse and exciting to explore. The range of collectibles keeps you scouring every reach of the map and makes for countless hours of value to this game. The dynamic between mastering classic weapons, Jimmy rigged resolver weapons, and boosting up amigo animal pets kept me enthralled in the experience. The draw back? Countless experiences with bugged keys to open doors, regular freezing when moving at fast speeds, and most importantly, crashes with lost saved data. As fun as FC6 is it is not a clean and well made game. Waiting on updates are the regular occurrence and being in delved in a mission only to have it crash or freeze really took this from a 10 to a 7 for me.
