Q: I actually want folders that are transparent; I cannot tell from the photos if these are that way or not. Can someone help me?

HI, These Dunwell Poly 3-Prong Folders are not transparent.

Q: Do the folders fold back to take up less space on the desk?

If you're asking WHETHER the back will fold under, the answer is yes. But they are springy and will tend to unfold unless held down, especially with light contents. They are not hinged and I don't now how long they would last under such usage. CW

Q: I like to use page protectors, but most folders aren't big enough and the pages extend beyond the edges of the folder. Are these big enough for that?

I tried it with the page protectors and it will stick out a little bit on the long edge, not from the top/bottom

Q: What are the assorted colors? are they distributed with random colors OR are they the specific colors that are in the advertised picture?

The 2-pocket folders with prongs come in the colors shown. A 6-Pack includes one each of: Yellow, Orange, Scarlet (Red), Green, Blue, and Magenta (Purple). A 12-Pack of the colored plastic folders will have two of each color. A 24-Pack will have 4 of each color. Thanks for the question!
