They did the job. Careful to tighten the turnbuckle
This kit comes with everything you need to successfully hang a shade sail with no help. All you need is a ladder, drill, tape measure and level. Since I was going into solid wood, I eschewed the plastic anchors and provided screws - instead opting to use 3 1/2â deck screws. The anchors were able to hold me up, so I know they were secure enough. To the included cotton rope. If youâve never done this before, I promise, you will never accomplish this alone by simply tying a knot, running it through the bracket and pulling. Youâll need to master the pulley method.Use the rope to tie a knot on the D ring of your shade sail. Then run the other end through the bracket you installed. THEN loop it back through the D ring again. Now, when you pull the rope, it will tighten so easily, you can almost do it with one hand.Make sure the turnbuckle is loosened out almost as wide as it can go. Now, you should have no problem hooking both sides of the turnbuckle between each ring and bracket. Do all 4 before going to the next step.THIS is VERY important. Get a large adjustable wrench that will fit the width of the turnbuckle and tighten down just enough so it wonât slip. Gradually turn the wrench towards you until either you canât anymore, or the hook bolts are touching. If you use a wrench thatâs jaws wonât cover the width, the turnbuckles will bend quite easily, rendering them useless. You have just enough hardware to do 4 corners. Just go easy, and slowly. You should be able to get it tight as a drum if you measured correctly.Time will tell as far as their durability goes. But you get the entire kit for what a single turnbuckle costs at the hardware store.Would buy again in a heartbeat. But would go a lot slower when tightening them up.

What do you expect?
After buying these, and realizing the turnbuckles kept coming loose, I decided to go to the hardware store and buy my own. I would not buy these again because the way the pieces screwed together on the turnbuckles is in my opinion out of tolerance. They are not as tight as they should be, and wiggling back-and-forth when the wind is blowing, you will notice they basically become loose. Obviously they canât unscrew so thereâs too much play and eventually they just slip apart.
