Q: Will this work with the X Air 12?

I'm going to have to say no. This box uses AES50 ports to connect to the AES50 ports on the X32. However, the X Air 12 doesn't seem to have any of those ports it.

Q: Can I run this with a wireless network router and an iPad ?

Not sure if you are thinking about the XR series. Those are standalone. This is the stagebox that you will connect to the x32 board. You can manage the board and the SD16 from the iPad wirelessly, provided you have a router and network set up.

Q: What’s the difference between Sd 16 and S16?

The S16 has more connectivity options however the SD16 has more connectivity options when it comes to the preamps. They aren't exactly the same and the biggest difference is this: ON-BOARD CONTROLSs16 control.jpg The S16 features more on-board control than the SD16. The S16 works equally well as a stand-alone pair for use with analog mixing consoles as well as ideal and seamless integration with our range of X32 digital mixing consoles of course. So in light of this there are a lot of control options available from the actual S16 stagebox where as the SD16 does not feature this level of on board control nor is it a stand alone box, the SD16 is primarily designed for the X32 series of mixers and future Behringer products. The S16 also features a dedicated headphone amp for direct monitoring, an onboard VU meter to monitor inputs and outputs and more control options for setup of the unit and applying phantom power etc.

That is correct! You just have to make sure you route everything properly on the mixer.

Failed after year and a half

After a year and a half the AES50 ports on the SD16 failed. The unit will no longer connect to my X32 mixer. Also, buyer beware of the 3 year warrant advertised in big bold letters on the Behringer website. It's only 3 years unless you register your product with them within 90 days of purchase. If not it reverts to a 1 year warranty and they will not honor the warranty. Behringer is trying to use this technicality to avoid any warranty work and hang there customers out to dry.

Rack Mount Wrong Size

We have a regular 19" rack. The rack mount that came with my SD16 is about 2" too wide for the holes to line up on the rack. Amazon technical help is a joke and waste of time..
