‘Believe in yourself, it’s all you need to achieve the impossible!’ Learn Chinese now!
Once again Lingo Mastery has come to the rescue, allowing us to make Chinese more accessible to a wider population. In the Introductory Note the goal is stated well: ‘Mandarin Chinese is the language with the most native speakers in the whole world and is up there with English as the most spoken language of them all, which means that its influence reaches all the expanses of the globe. 918 million people consider it to be their mother tongue while more than 1.1 billion people speak it in total. With this book you can make this number bigger by at least ne point!...our goal with this book is to allow you, the reader, to encounter useful, entertaining conversations that adapt very well into dozens of real life situations that you can and certainly will encounter in the Chinese-speaking world, giving you a chance to fend for yourself when you come across them… This book will ensure you practice your conversational skills in Chinese through the use of 105 examples of conversations, written in both Chinese and English to allow you to fully understand what’s going on in each and every one of them… A Chinese (Mandarin) version of the conversation will take place first, followed by an incredibly useful Hanyu Pinyin romanization. This system allows you to fully identify the correct pronunciation of Chinese characters, which are typically tough for non-Chinese speakers to read.’After their success teaching Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Russian now they turn to teaching Chinese! And it works. To make the Chinese characters accessible, transcriptions are provided in the form of transliteration and conventional signs used for transcription. Taking it slowly, step by step with practice, Chinese conversations become accessible! Learn how to order in a restaurant, choose a new car, meeting a new roommate, ice cream flavors – and so many fine topics presented in a manner that actually makes learning conversation Mandarin Chinese possible for all.The technique is solid and the lessons are well taught. This is a very fine introduction to Chinese vocabulary that may arise when you visit China or simply conversing and understand the Chinese population here at home. This book is appropriate for all age levels, and a book much needed at this time in our national status! Grady Harp, March 20

Great for Mandarin Chinese learners who aren't learning simplified Chinese characters
I'm studying Chinese but making no attempt to learn the alphabet, just speaking and listening. Pinyin stories and dialogues are great for this. This book contains a wealth of different conversations in pinyin, making it great pinyin-based practice for Chinese comprehension.

Nice
Hard to locate the line you were reading in the translation as you flip the page ,because the lines are not numbered. An audio with this would make it perfect .

Nice collection of Conversations for someone around HSK1
One of the most important things for actually getting used to Chinese is extensive reading. Memorizing characters is nice, but a lot of them find their meaning in two or three character combinations. If you've learned something approaching the HSK 1 characters, you can pick this up, recognize enough to follow the conversations and maybe pick up a few slightly different usages of different words. As important, you can get used to basic grammar patterns and encounter new words in slightly different contexts often enough to have them feel familiar. If you've learned a lot of words and phrases with the like of DuoLingo or Hello Chinese and need to move to more extensive reading this is a nice reader to pick up, especially on the Kindle where you can blow up the characters for easier reading.

Good for beginners with some basic knowledge
I found this to be really helpful for extensive reading, as someone who knows some really common words and knows a lot of the grammar. The stories are all conversational, so they're very easy to follow. They're all in the A1-B1 range according to how they're labelled within the book - and I personally found them all to be mostly-beginner friendly, assuming you already know several basics. Even if you were a total beginner though, things could definitely be learned from this. I used it for extensive reading as practice, and found it to help a lot! I read it on kindle, and really appreciate that the english explanations come after the entire chinese section - so you have to actually try and read and practice comprehending, before you get to the english translation.

Effort show in writing book but not useful
My background:I started with all 5 levels of Pimsleur. I did not do the pin yin portion at the end of the class but I still can read pin yin when I recognize words I learned by audio on Pimsleur.I have a small amount of practice from using a Tuttle Mandarin writing book of 344 characters.Conversational Chinese Dialogues:I read the introduction and it sounded friendly. I looked at the first few sentences in kanji and recognize writing the characters but I dont know what most if them mean. I read the pin yin and understand about 60%. It is difficult to keep moving the pages between the two languages. It would be better if the pages were next to one another on the left and right side facing each other.I got tired of flipping pages so I aimed my smartphone at the book and used Google translate on the kanji. It makes me dizzy. The book might be fun for someone with double my expertise. I cannot use the book. I would return it but COVID-19 restrictions are in place and I wont be going to UPS stores now.I'll look at the book a few minutes a day but it's not useful.I can tell that the authors put effort into making the topics interesting. They should have watched new people using the book and they could have improved the usage of it a lot. Thanks,Kevin
