Excellent, especially for the price.
There's nothing to complain about with this inexpensive cool tube, yes the reflectors are just shiny metal you can position how you want held on by two metal straps, but it's not like any other iteration of it functions particularly any better. You can barely feel the heat from it, it doesn't block anything significant, and does its job perfectly.

i give this product 5 five stars for a reason, it is just effective as hoods that cost 3x the price....in some ways more effective. Most people have no experience with other hoods and reflectors and don't know the difference. This is NOT a hood. This is a cool tube with a reflector that sits over it (it has no housing).People complain of the cheap construction. The reason the this setup is cheap (cost-wise) is because of it's design, and it's pretty ingenious. It weighs only 10 pounds! Comparable hoods weigh 40 - 50 pounds because they incorporate the structural design into the hood, which houses the reflector and supports the glass.People complain about the little snaps that hold the reflector together, similar to the ones on manila envelopes. Well, the material the reflector is made out if is not much heavier than a manila envelope and just needs to be held in place. Additionally, the reflector does not support any weight at all (again, it's function is to reflect light, not too support the socket and glass.) Do you screw manila envelopes together? If you really want to use nuts and bots they can be had for $1 at your local hardware store. The cool tube is the main piece. It houses the light bulb is the part of the unit that is supported when hanging. The glass in the cool tube is very strong. It accounts for pretty much all of the 10 pounds. The weight in competing reflectors is in the metal 'hood' itself, not the reflector or glass. This is because the hood that goes over the reflector. Glass in competing reflector is supported by the hood. A reflector needs to reflect light, not bare weight. I can hang ten pounds anywhere. 40 -50 pounds is a different story. This is not really a commercial unit. You can't just throw it around and expect it to last forever. However, if you are careful with it, it should last for year and years. The cool tube seals VERY well. Much better than hoods I have had. I needed to tape other hoods around the glass to keep them truly sealed. In terms of performance, it works great...as good as any air-cooled hood/reflector. I have it in my house (no tent). It's about 77F indoors. I have a single 600 watt metal halide bulb about 12"-15" distance, and the air temperature around the plants is 79F-80F, which is perfect for my purposes. The drawbacks I see are possibility of damage in shipping (maybe not the greatest packaging, even though mine was in great shape), or maybe even a butterfly nut missing (quality control), which will not stop you from using it and can get a replacement screw at Home Depot. This part of the reason why the product is so inexpensive. Customer support is great. The weight alone is a very, very good reason buy this product. If that is not enough considering it is only $65 and works just as well for cooling as any competing product. Franky, I'd rather use the spare money for a expensive fan, the ducting and dinner. 5 STARS!

The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Okay for the good great footprint, good reflect ability, and decent craftsmanship. The bad is the fact that you have to put it together yourself. And ugly is I wish they would have used little screws and nuts instead of brads for assembly. I recommend putting on the four corner struts first, then attaching the brads to the main piece. Bottom line is a decent hood for a good price.

No Mas!!!
WTF?! Unless you just need the cooltube, Do Not Waste Your Money!!! I read most of the positive comments before I bought it.( should have read the negative ones) The common one that gave me the slight push to get it was, "Easily covers 4x4 area". No crap! Any tube will cover a 4x4 area, if what you mean by that is that you can see the light from any area of that tent. Buy this tube if light penetration is not important to you. The main negative comments had to do with the flimsy design on the wing bracket, and cheap aluminum for wing. I like the simple bracket design. It is what I will use to mount a real wing extension on the tube, because nobody mentioned that the "reflector wing" is barely 3 inches on each side! Yeah, I said inches. There is no, and I mean NO difference in light coverage with that piece of crap added!I had every intention on sending it back today (just arrived today), but when I started the process, I found out that I have to pay $10.42 for the return shipping! Smart for the company, because they know people are going to send this bs back. I have a suggestion for the seller. Stop advertising it as a tube with a wing. It is not. The aluminum inside the tube does just as much as the "wing". Then your customers would not feel mislead. I will keep my $10.42, add $10 bucks to it and buy some aluminum at Lowes to make a decent reflector. I have purchased many items online, and more specifically from Amazon. This is the first time I felt so "hoodwinked"! Get it? But seriously, I will never buy from this seller again. I have added a few pictures.

Works as it should-
Although the reflector is a bit lacking, it is still useful and works as intended. It seems like these things either have huge ones or very tiny ones. Regardless, it does its job, and spreads light over a 4x4 area well. The socket is mounted to the brace inside, and you cannot disconnect it (without taking it all apart - electronics and all would need to be removed) but I cannot see any reason for needing that unless you plan to go bigger, which you would probably swap to a different model anyway.Overall, it works as it should, is mostly assembled when you get it, and it focuses the light without getting the glass hot which is nice for anything hanging above. Other tubes may not have the reflector like this, and they do allow that heat to saturate the top as well. The inner reflector is a nice benefit to this, and it can also be removed in the event you would like to mount these for 360 degree illumination.Everyone who we have purchased these for, or used ourselves, have been satisfied with the results. Just remember to clean them occasionally! They are durable, and help focus light a little over 100 degrees (depending on how you adjust the outer reflector).
