Way Too Fiddly for No Apparent Reason
Firstly, Miniart's idea of producing a wide range of accessory kits is brilliant. You can use these to improve a model, and any spares left over can be held in reserve for later. These particular sets do seem do seem to suffer from a bit of duplication; the 'Allied Jerry Can' set, the 'Oil and Petrol Cans 1930s & 40s' set, and the 'German Jerry Cans' set all contain elements from each other. The detail on each fuel can/type is good - and probably very authentic. The use of photo-etch brass 'gaskets' to create the weld seam between the Jerrycan halves is good. However, the decision behind some component design was baffling. At 1/35 scale, was it really necessary to make the fuel can screw-on/flip-up caps separate from the body of the Jerrycans and fuel drums? Trying to cut these from the sprue and manipulate something 1/8th the size of a grain of rice, only to drop it or watch it fly off into oblivion from the grip of micro tweezers is frustrating. Surely moulding these to the body of the cans in the first place would have been more logical?Useful accessory sets to have, but poorly executed regarding inclusion of microscopic components.
