Every day writer
This is a fantastic little pen that I use very nearly every day. I hesitated initially, thinking the clip would bother me. Thankfully it agrees with my grip, and I can use this pen for long writing sessions very comfortably. Pilot makes great nibs, and I love how this one has just enough give without that odd mushy feeling. The color is nice and pearly - it's more refined-looking than you might think from the pictures.A couple of notes:1. Japanese nibs tend to run smaller than their Western counterparts, and this one is no exception. In fact, it may give a slightly finer line than my extra-fine Edison. Although it's very smooth for being so fine, I do get feedback when I write. It's never scratchy, more like writing with a well-sharpened pencil. I probably have a slightly heavier hand with my pens than others, though.2. If you want to swap nibs, you'll need to swap the entire nib unit. It's very simple, and it's the same unit used in the Vanishing Point. I regularly swap this fine unit with the medium in my VP with no problem.3. Related to the above: I've found that the medium Decimo/Vanishing Point nibs are larger/wetter than other Pilot medium nibs. I almost wish there was a size in between the fine and medium. That said, the medium really is one of the smoothest nibs I've ever used, and it's just wet enough to show off gorgeous ink properties on Tomoe River Paper. Even though I have to write larger than normal, I'd choose the medium over the fine. But just barely.4. The squeeze converter that came with the pen was *really* crammed into the unit. It took some muscle to get it out, and the Con-50 is nearly just as difficult. I'm not sure if this is common across all Decimos or exclusive to mine.

The perfect fine-nib pen
I love writing with fountain pens, and I think the Pilot Decimos are unmatched when it comes to quality and design. They're pricey, but you get what you pay for. The purple on this pen is a beautiful light color that looks sleep and professional, and the clicking mechanism makes a satisfying tik-tak sound when you engage it. I have filled this pen with Robert Oster Summer Storm and De Atramentis Aubergine, and both inks that written beautifully. Even though the nib is fine, it feels soft against the page and has no scratchy feedback. You don't need to press down to write with this pen.

Lovely pen!
This is a really nice pen. The click retraction mechanism feels solid and reliable, not at all cheap and questionable. You can't really see it from the pictures, but this pen has a pretty, pearlescent dimension to the color. I did have to open the pen back up after inking up and make sure that the converter was REALLY snugly seated before the pen would engage, though. The nib is silky smooth, like writing with butter on a hot pan, especially with the ink that I put in it. It has a bit of give, as well, and with just a little bit of pressure, goes up to a medium (well, Pilot medium, which is still probably fine or even extra fine for a wet writing western nib). Personally, I write small and need my pens to work with me on that, so a nice fine line is what I'm usually going for. For the record, if you're one of those people who likes your inks to match the pens they're in, the Iroshizuku Ajisai is a great choice! This is not a big fat pen, it's comparable in size to a Pilot Metropolitan. If you're looking for something hefty and big, this probably isn't your pen; if you want something that fits in a smallish hand and isn't heavy enough to get tiring when writing for longer periods, this is a great option.

Fantastic pen, great writer
I was hesitant to splurge on the Decimo since I wasn’t sure about the clip placement. It turned out not to be an issue at all - I love the convenience of just being able to click a button to deploy the nib instead of having to uncap and post a pen and then recap it if I need to pause in my writing. I have had no issues with hard starts or the nib drying out when not used for a few days. The Fine nib is super smooth!

Stunning pen!
Absolutely amazing! This pen is so smooth and so bouncy! I absolutely love it! I've switched from twsbi eco and a Majohn A1 and it is crazy the step up this feels like! Also the violet color is more lavender/lilac ish but so pretty. The pen diameter is thinner then most pens I have tried but it is still comfortable to write with for long periods. I'm an avid journaler (sometimes over 10 pages daily) and this and my twsbi diamond are my go to for writing!

It works. :)
After several exchanges, the addition of a Pilot Capless-fountain-pen to my arsenal has come to pass. Previous models had ink-flow problems that couldn’t be solved with a simple cleaning.I’ve had this issue happen more often than not with the capless models. Would recommend prospective buyers to please be careful and NOT DROP YOUR PENS. :(:A picture of the packaging box was provided for those who place importance and/or value on it. Ideally I would like the box to be in pristine condition but, in my opinion, it’s the pen, not the box that is important and as long as the pen is WORKING, I am content. But I will say that I do take the condition of said box and pen-case (black case) into consideration when coming to my overall opinion and of course writing my review.Of course there is no such thing as a “perfect” pen. Every pen has strengths and weaknesses. There are pens that perform better but, what made this pen desirable is quite simply its capless feature. There are moments when I have surges of creativity and it is so much faster to grab, press, and write. Afterwards I will alternate with the other pens in my arsenal for continuity.Sometimes all it takes is a split second for that fantastic idea to slip away — not anymore.
