You might be thinking this enables Carplay/Android Auto but its a emulated version passing commands from the phone and mirroring to the head unit using a emulated version. Its not using Android Auto app on the head unit. Its not using Android Auto on the phone. This is why its a external dongle. It has to host the "app".This results in not being able to use Android Auto on the head unit and then sync in your phone. Nope, it has to load up it own version.It requires a app to be downloaded to side load the hosted Android Auto. Its such a clunky way to make this work.That's all after you get past the app constantly crashing on your phone, attempting to connect to the device and failing and doing its one job.The cable is made with some tiny wire so it cant charge your phone, as its barely able to power itself off the 500mah output from the head unit. A Y spliter wont help as its made with the same tiny gauge wire and now you need to tuck away a nest of wires..But hey, this is wireless right? First you need to note, you have to pair with the dongle, not the head unit because - remember, its hosting the app, not the head unit. This might be plausible if they Bluetooth would stay paired but the connection drops right after pairing and the unit cant find the paired phone, probably because the anemic wires powering the dongle are as thin a starving children in Africa.I'm still on the fence about the Xtron head-unit but this "adapter" is some hot garbage snake oil boxed up and sold as an "enhancement" to the Xtron head unit.

I am trying to eliminate the requirement of plugging my phone into a USB cable and go wireless with my Android. This does not fill the bill.

Initial setup was a pain but got it working after a couple of minutes. Sometimes it’s laggy and it takes a while to load up. Another thing I noticed was that there’s sound delay when playing any type of audio.

Drove me absolutely nuts. Was causing my head unit (which is also xtrons) to have the audio cut in and out even when no phone was connected to the CarPlay dongle. Just this unit being plugged into the usb would cause this problem after the app was installed for the first time. Literally replaced my whole head unit thinking that was the issue after discussing with xtrons tech support. Long story short stay far away from this product. Very bad experience and made me waste a ton of time.

Spent $80 on something that sucks. Overall don’t get this and look for another one
