works great! you do not need the ground screws for it to work (Please see udates)
Keeping this at 5 stars for now (see update below) Instructions say that you need to use the grounding screws for this to work, you do not need them if you are not putting this near any sensitive high powered devices. Also, do not be cheap, buy good quality CAT6 NOT 5 ethernet cable and this will work fine. I have this hooked up to an HDMI splitter from my PC's video card so I can have my PC screen mirrored to my TV. great for full 1080P viewing. UPDATE BELOW!!4/24/19--> I had this on my LG 55 inch tv and it worked fine...... I upgraded to a Vizio 65in 4K TV, (model e65u-d3) everything else that was plugged into the tv worked fine (X-Box, BluRay player..ect) but this is giving me display problems... please see picture. I think and HOPE it is the crappy HDMI cables from the 99cents store that I am using and hoping that this tv is picky and needs a high-quality cable to work, so I am buying some good HDMI cables to use and will get back to this in another update.UPDATE 4/30/19--> not sure if the Vizo 4k tv is cheaper than my older LG 1080p tv.... had my video card from my pc set to 1080p resolution and all worked fine on my older LG tv.... kept everything the same and plugged the cables from the extender in the Vizio 4k TV and distorted picture at best if it would display at all.... bought some "good" newer HDMI 1.4 cables since the ports on my Vizio 4k TV are HDMI 1.4..... and still the same issues..... I had to go to the troubleshooting section to find out that I had to LOWER the resolution of the source... did that and 720p is where the tv displays picture normally...... I Really hope that a newer 4k tv does not have weaker HMDI ports than a much older 1080p tv..... I already have CAT 6 ethernet cable on the extender... maybe getting some CAT 7 will give me full 1080P....... but I am keeping the 5-star review as it does not seem to be the extender that is the problem.

Bought to Extend Lorex Security Monitor HDMI Cable from Upstairs to Downstairs - It Works!
Bought this single transmitter & receiver pair to extend my Lorex Security System Monitor signal to a room downstairs. I anticipated about an 80 foot run, but just to be safe I bought a 120 foot CAT 6 cable to connect the two units. It was pretty simple and straight forward, each unit had a HDMI cable to connect, a power cable on each unit, and then the CAT 6 cable to link them both together. I suggest testing your CAT 6 cable BEFORE running it through your walls, attic, and around other obstacles in case you have a defective cable which I did not have. My biggest hurdle was drilling the hole in the top of my downstairs wall for the CAT cable. The location was in an awkward, contorted place that my body was unable to reach, but a tv installer guy was able to drill for me, and help feed the cable through the attic for a fee. On the transmit side I fed the CAT cable through the upstairs wall using a penetration style wall plate and straight to the transmitter output. Downstairs I ran the CAT cable to a wall plate that had both a CAT Jack, and a RF Antenna barrel mount. I finished the run to the receiver with a short (3 ft) CAT cable. I mounted both the transmitter and receiver units on the back side of their respective piece of furniture using adhesive Velcro strips. The project now has a clean pro installed look.I’ve been running these units for over six months now and I’m very pleased with my picture quality (1080p). The only problems I have encountered are a couple of times I’ve had to reset the power to each unit to restore a lost signal situation, but that is typical of about any electronic devices nowadays. One later modification I added to my display feed was a two position HDMI switch that allows me to select either my local or remote monitor for viewing.I’ve noticed my audio signal is good upstairs, but on my downstairs monitor it is missing. This means it is a cable, switch, or perhaps transmitter/receiver issue. And speaking of cables I had to supply my own HDMI cables, one at each end. Now that the install is complete, I consider my modification a success, and I would recommend this transmitter/receiver pair for a similar security monitor modification!

Working as expected over 50ft of CAT 5e.
We have a TV mounted on a wall of our screened-in Porch. The plan was keep the set top box hidden in the basement, so we ran HDMI, CAT 5E, and RG6 COAX cables between the basement and the TV Mount location. The cable runs were roughly 50 feet. I had initially tested the 50 ft HDMI cables prior to the installation and it worked. However, once it was installed in the walls, the video signals were too weak. I'm guessing that there was interference with the power lines that ran close to the HDMI cables. I initially started looking for HDMI amplifiers and/or HDMI repeaters, but majority of the review ratings were in the 3.5/5 range. So I decided to investigate these HDMI extenders over Ethernet.I picked this unit because it was on the cheaper side, but the reviews were pretty solid.Installation was pretty straightforward. Install the unit with the "HDMI out" with the TV. Install the other unit the "HDMI in" with the UVERSE Set top box. Plug in the power adapters.BAM!It worked. I can now watch TV shows in my porch. It's been 1 week now, and it's still working. One thing to note is that I am not using the IR repeaters on this unit because I am using the Harmony Home Control to control the set top box remotely.

IR Extend function works flawlessly
I purchased to use as an IR extender over CAT 6. I was not 100% sure if you also had to have HDMI hooked up for it to recognize and work. I'm happy to say this works perfect just as an IR extender. A bit compared to other extenders, but when I factored in the ease of CAT 6 in my situation , and the fact this thing worked perfect on the first try I'm very happy. Also happy to report on the IR in side it's quite generous in the angle and distance it can accept. I actually left the receiving eye up at ceiling level, hidden in a drop ceiling tile. It still needs line of sight (cannot be behind something) but pointing the remote naturally at the TV it picks up the signal just fine, and transfers it to my blu-ray player in a separate room.
