My Unforgettable spring. The best time of her life. A high school boy stumbles across a secret journal in a hospital one day. He soon finds out the diary belongs to his classmate, a girl named Sakura Yamauchi, who is revealed to be suffering from a terminal illness in her pancreas and only has a few months left to live. Very poignant tale
This anime is beautifully illustrated and the tale has sadness but also joy. The story and characters are well detailed and it is a beautiful tale.

A downbeat, but engrossing movie
I hesitate to use the word "depressing" to describe this movie, but it kinda is for the most part. That may not surprise you from the story outline of course, but it is definitely worth watching as it is a very absorbing drama and I was pretty satisfied with it by the end, so can't say fairer than that.Only real downsides I noted were a fairly forgettable soundtrack and pretty average quality animation... but these are minor nitpicks on the whole.Worth a watch.

Heartwarming and heartbreaking
A beautiful story of friendship between a dying girl and a lonely boy. The animation is lovely, Sakura is a charming character and it's great seeing their relationship develop. [Mild spoiler] Though the film gives you no illusion of what happens in the end, when it happens it's an utter gut punch, one which threatens to spoil the entire film, but it's handled with enough care that it works and ultimately adds to the emotional development shown throughout the film.Extras aren't too exciting but nice that there are some other than just trailers, and the disc comes with a cardboard sleeve which is always a nice extra.

Do not be put off by the title its brilliant
I had read good things about this film however I never got around to seeing it.I know the title may put people off (it did with me) however ignore this, it is up there as one of the best anime films I seen. The film is about a high school student who finds a diary in a hospital, upon reading it he discovers that it belongs to a classmate Sakura who is suffering from a disease affecting her pancreas and she hasn't got long to live. He promises to keep her secret (only him and the girl family knows) in return he must become friends of her and help her tick off the things she wants to do before she dies.I absolutely love this filmed.Although you know where the film is going you can not help but fall in love with the characters are so likeable. The ending does get emotional (also please stick to the very end after the credits as there is a scene at the end which wraps up the film nicely).Highly recommend this film

The story gets better towards the end
This story is slow in the beginning, and sometimes a bit hard to understand (Why would Japanese 12th graders book a room at the Hilton?). But keep watching, there is a twist in the plot that will take you by surprise. The artwork is at times great (the fireworks, the 'still images' carry lots of information), but at times somewhat bland too, eg how the library is represented, so somewhat inconsistent. The movie offers some interesting insights in how the Japanese cope with death and mourning, and how they relate to one another, especially friendship and romantic involvement.Important hint: don't turn off your player when the credits start, because after that, there's a 3 minute conclusion that needs to be seen to fully understand the character development.

Arrived on time and in perfect condition.
I've seen this movie many times and it's amazing it was about time I bought it to have physically. If you are debating getting this then get it, you will be happy you did. Also this is a EU copy so Americans don't buy it.
