Two drives, JBOD, USB... Works without issue.
I bought this to add two drives to an existing QNAP NAS which I installed Ubuntu on, as a way to have software RAID for long term file storage. Adding the drives, plugging it in, and powering it up was easy. The drives dropped in, the top is magnetic, so just sits on it, and upon plugging in, both drives were recognized.UASP and hdparm commands work, so the hard disks I bought, which were self-encrypting drives, were able to be erased before I added data to them. This worked flawlessly. An enclosure, when it works, it works well and something one takes for granted. For the past several weeks, I've been using it with extremely heavy disk I/O moving Borg backup archives , I have to export data from a tar file, import it, which means it gets compressed/deduplicated, which can take days per terabyte at the highest compression level. So far, even though USB speeds are relatively slow, it is working well enough, and I've had no errors, even when running ZFS scrubs. If you need a DAS enclosure for two drives and have a machine that can do software RAID, this is definitely something to consider. USB 3.x isn't going to win any speed records... but for data that is intended to be on an archive and seldom used, but still available, it works well enough.Definitely would buy again.

Corrupted both harddrives 2x in under a month 32TB of DATA LOST. Going in the trash
Bought this to house a 4tb Hdd and a 12tb hdd and it has now corrupted both drives two times now. That is 32 TB of data destroyed by this terrible external dock. If you arent using the drives for more than 20min or so they go to "sleep" which freezes windows explorer and requires the dock to be unplugged from the usb or turned off to be able to use windows explorer. The problem with this is even if they are "asleep" the pc wont allow you to eject them so you have to turn it off which then they corrupt the data due to not being ejected. I emailed the company about a different firmware and got no response back after weeks. Needless to say this product is going directly in the trash or fire after corrupting 32TB of data total. Do not buy this if you value the data on the drives you are putting in it.

Great storage bay for HDD
I needed some extra storage for my NAS and had some spare HHD's sitting around I purchased this and it works great. I just plugged it into my PC it saw the device I was able to format the drives and then I just added it to my NAS. This was a life saver for me to cheaply add storage to my devices for Photo and movie storage.

Drives can overheat during long data transfers.
I ordered the usb-c model to use with two WD 6TB HDDs and 2018 MacBook Pro. Transfer rates seem to be as advertised. It took an hour to transfer 850Gb from my Thunderbolt 3 SSD drive. The fan is quiet and not noticeable. I deducted a star due to dives heating up and needing to remove the magnetic cover and place external fan for cooling. To be fair, the overheating occurred during the constant writing to both drives (RAID 1 configuration) during the hour it took to transfer 850Gb. It is too early to tell if overheating will be a problem during normal daily use.Update: After using for two weeks (with the lid off) the drives did get quite hot and I had to use an external fan to keep them cool durring daily normal use. Ultimately I returned the product and purchased the following enclosure by the same manufacturer:ORICO 2 Bay Hard Drive Enclosure USB C Plug and Play DAS Backup with 12V/4A Power Adapter Maximum 2*22TB Storage for Personal Local Database - 9728C3Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZL6J417?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I dont usually write reviews but I am devastated losing 2 hard drives at the same time. Both had very important data that I couldn't lose. The drive disconnected twice during file transfer and disappeared from Windows 11. I restarted the computer and then noticed the enclosure was just doing nothing, no drives showed on the screen. I shut down the computer again, waited for shut down and then clicked the button on the enclosure to power off. Powered the computer and then clicked the power for the drive, and to my shock both drives were now unreadable, registered as RAW. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, not even your worst enemy. I will now have to invest in either data recovery software or send to a recovery center. ORICO should be ashamed to make a product that can easily destroy your data. How is it that WD and Seagate can make PCB hardware (external drives) that prevent data loss and ORICO cant.

Not a long term solution
Fan failed just today at a little under of year of owning.Worked great before then. Fans seems replaceable but i shouldn't have to do that after only a year of running.
