RevellSnapTite The Black Diamond Pirate Ship Model Kit

Unlike me, my son didn't get a chance to build too many models as he was growing up (mainly because I never quite had the time to get him to get interested in it). However, he got into this one and built it well, so that being the point of it, I think this was a perfect level of challenge and fun.

We bought 5 of these as an activity for our 8 year old son's birthday party. It was a great project that kept he and his friends occupied for a good 30-45 minutes. A few of the mast pieces didn't fit well in the positions that they were supposed to be placed and in a couple of cases trying to force them on snapped the mast piece. In other cases the hole was too big and we needed to add a little glue. All in all though it was a great success and may have inspired some interest in future model building.

Awesome model. My Grandson and I enjoyed putting it together. Well detailed and for the most part did not require glue. I decided to glue some of it because it was being handled a lot and some pieces would come off. This is definitely a model and not a toy, so dont purchase this thinking it will hold up to the rigors of a young kid playing with it...comes with a stand for a reason! You will need to cut out the sales and flags and tape on so this is certainly a model you will need to help a younger modeler with. I do give this 5 stars overall...very happy!

Every part inside the product’s box itself,seems to be intact.However my grandson looked at it and said “Pops it’s ruined we don’t have the Black Diamond “I assured him it would work out, but that remains to be seen. I want to believe this was not the shippers fault.First time ever getting a package from you guys looking like this.We’ll look at this one incident as instantly forgiven and move on.Still love my Amazon!

I like that there is no glue involved in assembly

Do not buy.It looks like a neat set but it’s nothing but frustrating. It does not snap together correctly, will constantly fall apart while trying to build, and the sails are paper you cut out. Unable to finish and it went in the trash.It’s possible if you used glue it might be ok but that seems to defeat the purpose and there’s far better sets for that.

First, it was WAY smaller than I expected. More importantly, the pieces would not stay together, and the final product is flimsy and cheap-looking. As a kid who grew up building Revell models, I was hugely disappointed in the cheapness of this product. Also...the sails and flags are simply printed on paper. So you have to cut them out and tape them on. Would it have been so hard to have made the flags into stickers? And paper sails? Cheesy.

After 40-plus years away I decided to get back into model kits again - I want to start easy but with something I like so I did this ship as my first one - I had an absolute blast - great instructions and easy construction - sure, it can be a "toy" and a fun one at that - but with some time and paint it actually displays really nicely
